The Director, Product Operations is a member of the Product Management leadership team responsible for defining, implementing, and managing the operating systems that enables a high-performing Product and UX organization. This role ensures the scalability, predictability, and effectiveness of how Product, UX, and Engineering validate opportunities, plan and deliver work, measure outcomes, and continuously improve.

This leader serves as the strategic owner of the product operating model, bridging the gap between product strategy and execution through governance, tooling, insights, and enablement. The Director partners closely with Product Managers, UX, Engineering, Data, Finance, Marketing, Client Care Operations, Enablement, and Go-To-Market leaders to ensure product development is aligned to business priorities, operationally sound, and measured for impact.

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

Product Operations Strategy and Operating Model

  • Own the end-to-end product operating model, including discovery and validation practices, planning and prioritization governance, delivery visibility, release readiness, and outcome measurement.
  • Define and execute the roadmap for scaling Product Operations in alignment with Product and UX leadership priorities, engineering delivery needs, and business growth and automation objectives.
  • Responsible for planning and directing the function's strategic and long-range goals. Conduct organizational reviews to identify strengths and weaknesses and to evaluate operational effectiveness to ensure delivery on the agreed upon strategy.
  • Establish clear governance processes for intake, prioritization, process changes, tool usage, documentation standards, and decision-making rituals across Product and UX.
  • Promote standardization and consistent practices that reduce friction and administrative burden while increasing clarity, velocity, and quality.

Portfolio Visibility, Performance Measurement, and Executive Insights

  • Own portfolio-level visibility into product work, including roadmap, idea backlogs, and validation.
  • Establish and maintain systems and processes to measure product outcomes, including adoption, retention, satisfaction, and business impact, in partnership with Product leaders.
  • Evolve recurring product portfolio performance reviews and health reporting, ensuring teams learn from results and adjust direction based on evidence.

Discovery Enablement, Feedback Systems, and Customer Signal Management

  • Own the systems and processes used to capture, structure, route, and operationalize customer feedback and product insights at scale, including governance and process health.
  • Ensure discovery coordination and research operations are effective and scalable, connecting PM and UX teams to customers and internal partners efficiently.
  • Partner with Product leadership to increase rigor in opportunity validation and sizing, ensuring teams focus on high-impact problems and measurable outcomes.

Tooling, Systems Governance, and AI Enablement

  • Own PM and UX tooling strategy, governance, and adoption, including configuration standards, process alignment, training, and documentation.
  • Evaluate, select, and implement new tools and operational capabilities that improve decision quality, speed, and cross-functional clarity.
  • Drive AI enablement across PM workflows by identifying high-value use cases, piloting solutions, establishing usage guidelines, and measuring value, productivity, and quality gains.
  • Ensure tooling and operational data flows support reliable portfolio reporting and cross-functional alignment.

Release Readiness and Cross-Functional Operational Alignment

  • Own release readiness governance and operating cadence, partnering with Client Care Operations, Enablement, Product Marketing, and other stakeholders to ensure launches are coordinated, supported, and measurable.
  • Coordinate cross-functional processes that reduce launch risk and increase adoption, including checklists, readiness milestones, internal communications, and post-release measurement loops.
  • Serve as a trusted operational partner to PM, UX, and Engineering leaders to ensure processes actively support delivery and quality, not just planning and reporting.

Financial, Capacity, and Investment Tracking

  • Own the operational partnership with Finance for product investment tracking, including CapEx governance, time tracking processes, reporting, and process health.
  • Establish mechanisms that improve resource planning visibility, highlighting trends, risks, and opportunities across PM and UX investments.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to improve capacity visibility and operational planning, supporting tradeoff decisions and prioritization.

Team and Personal Leadership

  • Build, lead, and develop a Product Operations team responsible for the day-to-day execution and strategic evolution of product operations.
  • Define and shape the team to meet current and future needs from an operational, project, and roadmap perspective.
  • Set clear expectations for ownership boundaries across roles, ensuring strong accountability between execution and strategic scale.
  • Foster a collaborative partnership model across PM, UX, Engineering, and cross-functional business teams.
  • Keep current on product operations practices and enabling technologies. Develop opportunities for staff to continue in professional development and career progression.

YOU'VE GOT WHAT IT TAKES IF YOU HAVE:

  • 10+ years of experience in product operations, product management, program management, operations, or related roles supporting product and engineering teams.
  • 7+ years of experience leading teams and driving cross-functional operational change across Product, UX, and Engineering.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross-functionally with product, engineering, and customer teams to drive operational improvements.
  • Bachelor's Degree

IT WOULD BE NICE IF YOU HAVE:

  • Master's Degree
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, business, analytics, or a related field.
