JOB OVERVIEW: The Molding Engineer provides hands-on technical support for thermoplastic injection molding operations in a medical device cleanroom environment. This role is responsible for developing, optimizing, and validating molding processes; supporting New Product Introduction (NPI); resolving day?to?day production challenges; and driving continuous improvement in quality, safety, delivery, and cost. The ideal candidate is highly collaborative and is able to balance immediate production needs with long?term technical improvements. This role works closely with senior engineers and the Engineering Manager for mentorship and technical guidance.

RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Promote a Safety First mindset across all molding areas, equipment, and procedures.
  • Provide real-time troubleshooting and technical support for production molding processes with guidance from senior engineering staff.
  • Support and/or execute validation activities including IQ, OQ, PQ protocol development, execution, and reporting.
  • Partner with tooling, equipment, and material vendors to resolve mold or equipment issues, as supported by senior engineering staff.
  • Collaborate cross?functionally with Production, Quality, NPI, and Engineering to meet schedule, cost, and quality objectives.
  • Assist in identification and implementation of process improvements to reduce scrap, improve yield, and optimize cycle times.
  • Support defect analysis, root cause investigations, and corrective action implementation.
  • Provide limited technical training and guidance to molding technicians and operators.
  • Maintain cleanroom compliance, technical documentation, and change control requirements.

REQUIREMENTS:


  • 1-3 years of experience in injection molding, plastics processing, or relevant manufacturing engineering role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong understanding of molding process development, troubleshooting, and process optimization.
  • Working knowledge of IQ/OQ/PQ and GMP/ISO/cleanroom expectations.
  • Ability to interpret part prints, mold designs, and process documentation.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Strong written communication, documentation, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cleanroom and on the production floor.



PREFERENCES:


  • Master Molder I certification.
  • Exposure to ISO 13485, FDA Quality System requirements, or medical device manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting NPI launches, mold qualifications, or process transfers.
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean/Six Sigma).
  • Exposure to tooling design, tooling troubleshooting, or vendor engagement.
  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD tools.
