What to Expect
Tesla's Materials Manufacturing Engineering team is at the forefront ofdevelopingfirst-of-a-kind processes which allow us to produce amazing vehicles atbest-in-classquality andratein a safe and ergonomic environment. TheCoatings groupis seeking aSr. Manufacturing Engineerto lead thedesign and development ofnovelcoatingprocessesused in the manufacture of our products, whichincludes specification and validation,establishingandoptimization of critical process parameters, design for manufacturing, equipment specification and design, as well as installation and commissioning. The candidate will work closely with internal cross-functional teams, externalvendorsand technology partners on process development from concept to production.
This position requires 25% travel.
What You'll Do
- Managelarge-scaleprojects fornew programs, includingthe development of timing plans and cost breakdowns for executive approval, identification of risks to project timing driving corrective action,reporting of project status to executive team,and oversight ofinstallation and commissioning of new manufacturing lines
- Lead cross-functional collaboration and build relationships across the organizationthrough coordinationwith otherprocess, equipment, mechanical, electrical and support disciplines including project managers, manufacturing reps, and other stakeholders
- Own product design for manufacturability(DFM)and sustainability,includinganalysis of product design and identification of potential risks to the processand steering product design to the lowest overall cost (BOM cost + manufacturing cost)
- Perform analysistounderstand the cost of a process per unit ofproduction and drive the developmentforprocesseswhich will yield the greatest benefit
- Document product requirements for process and equipment specification
- Developprocessing technologies and equipment from conceptto serial production
- Detailed line design based on process requirements,throughputand OEE calculations
- Lead processqualification, includingdevelopment ofacceptance testing criteriaandverifying process/equipment meets requirements usingstatistical tools (such as GR&R, SPC and Cp/Cpk)
What You'll Bring
- Degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical,Mechatronics, or Chemical Engineering, or equivalent experience
- 5+years experience in atechnology-basedindustry, where automated methods are utilized in the finishing/coating of consumer products
- Experience working withordevelopingnovel processes with little to no industry precedence
- Experience with developing, installing, and commissioning high-volumeprocessequipment &automation systems(conveyors,robotics,pre-treatment ande-coat equipment, paint/powder application equipment, booths and ovens, PVD equipment, etc.)
- Experience developing,executingand interpreting results of Design of Experiments (DOE)
- Experience using Industrial Engineering methods in high-volume manufacturing processes
- Proficient in using Catia, SolidWorks, Inventor, and/or AutoCAD &automationsoftware
- Mastery of MS Office suite, Confluence, Jira,etc.
- Proficient in the development and deployment of PFMEAs,new product introduction andmanufacturingoperations experience

Expected Compensation
$109,600 - $234,000/annual salary + cash and stock awards + benefits
Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
