JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

Penn State's Office of the Physical Plant Facilities Planning & Space Management Department is seeking a motivated and detailed-oriented intern for Summer 2026 to support initiatives in space data analysis, software support, and architectural documentation. This internship offers hands-on experience in managing and analyzing campus space data, supporting SaaS platforms, and working with architectural drawings and CAD tools to help optimize space utilization across the University.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the maintenance and support of space management Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) platforms.
  • Review, update, and organize architectural and CAD drawings to ensure alignment with current space data.
  • Support data entry, validation, and reporting tasks related to space inventory and utilization.
  • Generate reports and visualizations to support planning and decision-making.
  • Collaborate with facilities staff, planners, and IT teams to troubleshoot and improve data workflows.
  • Participate in space audits and field verification activities as needed.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a college program (preferably in Architecture, Engineering, Facilities Management, Information Systems, or a related field).
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and architectural documentation.
  • Experience or coursework in data analysis, reporting, or database management.
  • Basic understanding of SaaS platforms and cloud-based tools.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and/or other data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

During the fall and spring semesters, interns may work up to 20 hours a week. During the summer, interns are expected to work 40 hours a week. Internship is located at University Park with compensation of $16 per hour for undergraduate and $17 per hour for graduate.
