We are seeking an Operational Excellence Manager to join Moog's Space and Defense Group at our high-production facility in Blacksburg, VA. This onsite role reports to the Slip Rings Site General Manager.

As Operational Excellence Manager, you will be responsible for leading strategic initiatives that drive continuous improvement, operational efficiency, and process excellence across the Business Unit. This role plays a critical part in implementing Lean principles, optimizing workflows, and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will contribute to the development and execution of the business unit's strategic goals.

As our Operational Excellence Manager, you will make a critical impact in this role by holding responsibility for:

  • Leading and managing business process improvement initiatives, including material planning, cost reduction, and operational efficiency.

  • Implementing, maintaining, and enhancing a Lean Business Management System aligned with organizational objectives.

  • Facilitating Lean and continuous improvement training across teams and departments.

  • Overseeing technical documentation and support standardization of processes.

  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify inefficiencies and develop solutions.

  • Appling structured problem-solving methodologies to address complex operational challenges.

  • Supporting strategic planning and execution as part of the Business Unit's Senior Leadership Team.

  • Promoting a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and operational excellence.

  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, ethical standards, and professional conduct.

To be considered for Operational Excellence Manager you'll need:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field (Master's preferred).

  • 7 years of experience in operations, continuous improvement, or Lean management.

  • 7 years in direct leadership.

  • Proven track record of leading successful process improvement and problem-solving initiatives.

  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.

  • Ability to influence and collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in root cause analysis and corrective action planning.

  • Proficiency in business systems and operational metrics.

Preferred Skills:

  • Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher).

  • Experience in manufacturing or industrial operations.

  • Familiarity with ERP systems and data analytics tools.

  • Skilled in change management and organizational development.

Salary Range Transparency:

Blacksburg, VA $130,000.00-$160,000.00 Annually

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range(s) listed is just one component of Moog's total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, an open paid time off policy, and many region-specific benefits.
