This position can be located at our Billings, MT Downtown Tower or at our Sioux Falls, SD Downtown branch. Interns will be exposed to forecasting cycles, performance reporting, and variance analysis to understand how the bank measures results and informs business decisions.

SUMMARY
Participants in the First Interstate Bank's Internship Program will have the opportunity to create future career opportunities by building banking knowledge and analytical skills, discovering interests and strengths, and developing business acumen over the course of the 10-to-12-week program with a maximum length of employment of 90 days. Interns play an essential role in the departments they are assigned to, working on special projects, and networking with First Interstate teams while learning key aspects of the banking industry. This is an entry-level position, ideal for current college students.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Contributes to the assigned department's success by providing professional, reliable, and flexible support and assistance on various assigned tasks and projects.
  • Partners with the manager to create three goals relating to the outcome of the internship.
  • Gains a comprehensive view of how a growing financial services company operates.
  • Builds a strong network through connections at the bank.
  • Collaborates with a dedicated mentor who will provide support and answer questions.
  • Seeks guidance from supervisors as they help manage responsibilities, measure progress, and support growth.
  • Acquires knowledge of First Interstate's procedures, standards, policies, banking functions, products, and services.
  • Works to develop key skills, including analytics, customer service, and business etiquette, necessary for success in an ever-changing work environment.
  • Works with experienced employees to learn best practices.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work well with a variety of personalities, be flexible in approach, and adaptable under pressure.
  • Must be detail-oriented and have strong analytical skills.
  • Must be organized and a self-starter.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • Associate's Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school required or
  • Completion of 2-3 years of college
