Health Policy Advisor

Venable LLP's Health Policy Team is seeking an experienced Policy Advisor with six to ten years of experience in health policy to join our Legislative Practice Group in Washington, D.C.

Our team advises and advocates on behalf of a diverse portfolio of clients in the health care arena, including health and hospital systems, health care professional associations, patient advocacy organizations, medical technology and supply companies, and global health entities. Working under the direction of Senior Policy Advisors, you will play a central role preparing key deliverables and engaging with policymakers on Capitol Hill and across the executive branch. The ideal candidate will have deep familiarity with both the legislative and regulatory processes at the federal level, with at least three years of experience working on Capitol Hill or within trade associations, advocacy organizations, or a similar multi-client service setting. Prior experience should include undertaking research to inform the preparation of - and drafting and editing -legislative and regulatory analyses, background memoranda, issue briefs, fact sheets, Congressional correspondence and testimony, regulatory comments, and other policy deliverables.

The ideal candidate demonstrates intellectual curiosity, a conscientious work ethic, and a willingness to work across a wide variety of projects, clients, issues, and tasks. The role involves lobbying on Capitol Hill and before executive branch agencies (requiring registration as a federal lobbyist), assisting in the planning of client events such as briefings, roundtables, and other convenings, and occasional travel to off-site events, conferences, and client offices. A capacity to work both independently and as part of a team, take direction from senior team members, and provide stellar client service to internal and external clients is essential.

Candidates must hold at least a bachelor's degree. Advanced degrees are a plus, but not required. The successful candidate will possess excellent oral and written communication skills, outstanding attention to detail, superior organizational abilities, effective interpersonal skills, and a professional and mature demeanor. A demonstrated ability to receive, seek, and incorporate feedback into performance is highly valued.

The salary range for associate positions is $170,000 to $200,000. The actual salary offered will be based on a number of job-related factors including, but not limited to, years of related experience, level of education, skills, credentials and certifications, responsibilities and performance.
