Job Summary

The VDC Designer I supports the preparation and maintenance of detailed design drawings, schematics, and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) and engineering (CAE) software. Working under the guidance of senior designers and engineers, this role assists in resolving design details and producing accurate 2D and 3D models based on sketches, plans, and verbal or written instructions. The VDC Designer I also contributes to maintaining drafting standards and procedures while developing foundational skills in mechanical system modeling and coordination.


Essential Duties

  • Utilizes cutting-edge CAD systems and tools to create intricate construction and fabrication drawings for diverse commercial and industrial projects. Develops drawings for manufacturing needs, leveraging technologies like AutoCAD for precision.
  • Provides onsite support for field personnel, when needed, and interfaces with other team leaders, the group manager, project managers, the shop fabrication managers and field supervisors.
  • Reviews equipment submittal documents for accuracy and completeness.
  • Coordinates draft construction drawings with other trades to ensure routings and clearances are understood and no obstructions exist.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.

Associate's Degree in Drafting, Design Technology or related field is preferred.

0-2 years

Should have a basic understanding of current design software such as Autodesk.
Working knowledge of drawing production and standard construction techniques and principles.
