Job Description:

  • quantifying the financial value associated with implementing the improvements; and

We need more Supply Chain Consulting Managers to manage our strategic sourcing engagements, including leading development of global supply strategies, helping to build category strategies, managing the team's delivery of competitive sourcing initiatives, assuming ownership for more complex value creation workstreams, and driving procurement transformations, logistics, and operational excellence strategies with clients.

Our delivery model is reliant on highly capable managers to oversee the team's daily work, build and maintain productive relationships with client stakeholders; in addition to leading and managing their own workstreams. This is to say that our managers assume direct ownership for solving tough sourcing, logistics, or operational challenges, while supporting other Crowe teammates in parallel. Additionally, to ensure success and exceptional client experience our teams work on site with our clients; as such, this position requires your ability to travel 95% of the time. To summarize, you need to be confident in your ability to manage complex projects and workstreams in high pressure client environments to drive results, and weekly travel cannot be an issue.

Job duties include but are not limited to:

Your primary focus would be leading our strategic sourcing engagements, including:

  • Managing supply chain assessments which involves:
    • Conducting executive and front-line leader interviews and completing job observations
    • Developing a spend cube and performance analytics to shape category events and enable impact tracking (leveraging Power BI)
    • Leading organizational sourcing and procurement maturity assessments to understand gaps and opportunities and develop improvement plans
    • Building out detailed category sourcing strategies with clients to shape plans to improve commercial terms and improve alignment with suppliers
    • Facilitating ideation workshops independently to gain alignment with stakeholders and refine strategies grounded in feedback
    • Building assessment reports and confidently presenting insights and strategies to executive leaders
  • Post-assessment, managing implementation of recommendations, which involves:
    • Managing engagement and client relationships
    • Leading execution of one (1) to two (2) category strategies through final negotiations and award recommendations, and leading implementation of resulting supplier agreements
    • Supporting client optimization of sourcing and procurement organizational structures, policies, processes, and management practices; and,
    • Assuming ownership for ad hoc value creation workstreams when appropriate.

Our managers can also be assigned to logistics or operational consulting engagements from time to time when appropriate as a manager or as an individual contributor, which involve elements such as:

  • Managing logistics optimization or operational improvement engagements
  • Collaborating with, or managing, our extended team and client(s) to assess, design, and implement broader operational and supply chain transformation projects for diverse industries
  • Leading and managing execution of complex consulting value workstreams, providing operational, financial, and process analysis, strategy development, process reengineering, and modeling

Qualifications:

Non-negotiable qualifications:

  • Travel 95% of the time - Sunday through Thursday, more than 45 weeks a year (no flexibility on this)
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management or a relevant field required, or more than ten (10) years of professional field experience
  • More than seven (7) years of strategic sourcing experience - creating and executing category strategies independently, in industry or as a consultant
  • More than three (3) years of experience managing projects and people

Life skills vital for being qualified/successful in our practice:

  • Personable and able to pass the airplane test - we work to lead and influence stakeholders in every aspect of our client engagements; as such, this is critical.
  • Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to drive results independently
  • Ability and interest in learning new skills quickly and often
  • Ability to conduct analytics that generate insights versus pivot charts (including proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, and the ability to ramp up on Power BI quickly)
  • Ability to connect issues and opportunities back to clients' financials
  • Ability to say more with fewer words in your professional writing
  • Ability to interact and present to all levels of the organization, including executive leaders weekly
