ARES is seeking candidates to support the NASA Technology Transfer Program, which advances NASA's mission by identifying, protecting, and commercializing NASA-developed technologies with potential for real-world impact.

Through technology transfer, NASA innovations are made available to entrepreneurs, companies, universities, non-profits, business incubators, and state and local governments. These efforts help create jobs, strengthen American industry, stimulate economic development, and improve life on Earth by applying space-developed technologies to terrestrial challenges.

A Technology Commercialization Manager I is an entry-level professional who supports the identification, evaluation, and commercialization of innovative technologies emerging from research and development activities. Working collaboratively with technical experts, marketing professionals, and business stakeholders, this role helps translate complex technologies into viable commercial opportunities and supports the successful rollout of new products, capabilities, or services.

Responsibilities:

  • In this role, the Technology Commercialization Manager I contributes to strategic marketing and commercialization initiatives by applying analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and cross-functional collaboration.
  • The position supports the development and execution of marketing strategies and technology rollout plans designed to drive innovation and deliver measurable business results.
  • A Technology Commercialization Manager I conducts market and technology research to help identify potential applications, industry sectors, and commercialization pathways for emerging technologies.
  • The role may also assist in evaluating and recommending marketing technology tools and platforms and supporting the administration or use of marketing technology systems that enable commercialization activities.
  • In addition, the position contributes to marketing intelligence efforts by gathering and analyzing data to provide actionable insights to internal stakeholders and clients.
  • This role also supports the commercialization of business opportunities developed by the Sales and Marketing organization through participation in project coordination and product launch activities for new technologies or significant product releases.
  • Responsibilities may include assisting with project schedules, monitoring progress against commercialization plans, and helping ensure that evolving market conditions, business priorities, integration needs, and technological advancements are reflected in commercialization strategies.
  • A Technology Commercialization Manager I contributes to the development of product and commercialization plans that outline goals, milestones, and implementation strategies.
  • The role may assist in preparing and presenting product plans that communicate how commercialization objectives will be achieved while identifying potential risks, challenges, market opportunities, and growth strategies.
  • This position provides early-career professionals with the opportunity to develop expertise in technology commercialization, market analysis, and cross-functional collaboration while working within NASA's innovation ecosystem.
  • Successful candidates will demonstrate intellectual curiosity, strong communication skills, and an interest in bridging technology and business to bring innovative solutions to market.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Required Education - Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, technology management, or a related field.
  • Required Experience - 0-3 years of experience in technology commercialization, research support, or related fields. Relevant internships, research projects, or innovation programs may be considered qualifying experience.
  • Required Skills - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. On-Site Position
  • The position required 5 days on-site at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting technology transfer requirements for a federal agency. - Demonstrated breadth of technology experience across a variety of disciplines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 applications.

Education:

  • Required Education - Bachelor's degree in engineering, science, technology management, or a related field.
  • Required Experience - 0-3 years of experience in technology commercialization, research support, or related fields. Relevant internships, research projects, or innovation programs may be considered qualifying experience.
