Job Summary

With the assistance of subordinate leaders and community partnerrs the Unit director of Community Health initiatives and partnerships Designs and oversees nursing and administrative operations in the Roving Community Health initiative the Gender Institute and the Hyperbaric Center at UCSF Hyde. maintains clinical oversight, drives quality improvement initiatives, and ensures regulatory compliance while leveraging data analytics to monitor performance outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement. This role leads evidence-based practice implementation, proactively addresses quality and safety trends through course correction strategies, and partners with interdisciplinary teams to foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and excellence.

In addition to clinical oversight, the Unit Director oversees financial and human resource management to meet organizational objectives. Responsibilities include budget planning, monitoring productivity benchmarks, optimizing staffing models, and ensuring efficient resource utilization without compromising patient care. The role requires strong analytical capability, executive presence, and the ability to align program operations with both short- and long-term strategic priorities of UCSF Health.

This leader ensures that all safety and support efforts are grounded in non-biased philosophy and methodology and are trauma-informed., this role collaborates with community partners and external resources to address the needs of all communitymembers including underserved populations.

The Unit Director reports directly to the Executive Director of Nursing

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF.

The salary range for this position is $253,900 - $269,400 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

The Roving Community Health Initiative and the Gender Institute exemplify UCSF Health's commitment to leadership in community-centered care. Through innovative, inclusive, and outreach-focused models, these initiatives work to reduce health inequities, improve access, and deliver culturally responsive care. Together, they reflect UCSF Health's dedication to advancing health equity, strengthening community partnerships, and meeting patients where they are. The UCSF Hyde Hyperbaric treatment Center provides care for patients requiring hyperbaric therapy. The Director will be responsible for ensuring UCSF policies, procedures and standards are followed; working with the vendor to ensure good working relationships between organizations; and ensure the contract is adhered to and maintained.

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or higher level degree of nursing education required
  • Strong hospital management experience, with progressive and in-depth expertise in patient care services.
  • Knowledge of hospital / clinic operations in a hospital or medical center setting; knowledge of appropriate professional standards for the department and team.
  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills to foster and promote an environment for effective communication and collaborative decision making across multiple units and disciplines.
  • Excellent leadership, fiscal and operations management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with physicians, management and staff from all disciplines.
  • Ability to create and maintain a goal-oriented climate of teamwork, collaboration and consistent achievement of objectives.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant healthcare information technology and patient care workflows and processes.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, as well as related legislative, accreditation, licensing and compliance environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, and specialized applications such as Adobe Acrobat and Visio.
  • CA RN License and BLS required.
