We are seeking a motivated and detailoriented intern to support ongoing efforts in advancing nextgeneration kidney stone treatment technologies. In this role, you will assist the team by gathering clinical insights and research, assisting new product development, and supporting evidencegeneration activities, including bench testing and animal model studies under close guidance. You will help contribute to improvements in procedural workflows and support refinement of current Calyxo commercial products. Additional responsibilities include assisting with research for requirement definition and participating in physician evaluations during invitro bench testing, simulateduse studies, and invivo testing as needed for new product development.

In This Role, You Will:



  • Develop an understanding of Calyxo's products, kidney stone disease, treatment pathways, and the competitive landscape
  • Assist in developing invitro and invivo kidney models by supporting data collection, literature review, and basic model preparation under the direction of senior team members.
  • Research clinical benchmarks to establish customer and product requirements
  • Support the setup and execution of test methods used to evaluate device performance, including preparing materials, collecting data, and documenting results for marketing, evidence generation, and design activities
  • Support the team in gathering insights on procedural techniques by reviewing case materials, summarizing observations, and helping to define clinical best practices
  • Assist in organizing and analyzing procedural data, such as case videos, questionnaires, and complaint summaries, under supervision.
  • Support Marketing and R&D teams by gathering background information, organizing documentation, and assisting with preliminary analyses related to clinical performance goals and risk assessments

Requirements:



  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related field
  • Incoming Junior or Senior preferred
  • Work location: Pleasanton, CA
  • Travel: 10%
  • Full time employment
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to adapt to changing work priorities
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams
  • Ability to follow instructions, manage multiple tasks, and execute in a fast paced environment
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) or Google Workspace, and comfort learning new software tools and systems as required. Exposure to basic programming or scripting relevant to data analysis or research workflows (e.g., Python, SQL, R, or similar), gained through coursework, projects, or internships
  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while working at a computer, attend meetings, and perform standard office based tasks.
  • Compliance with relevant county, state, and Federal rules regarding vaccinations.


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Experience with laboratory testing and ex-vivo tissue testing
  • Exposure to CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo)
  • Familiarity with data analysis tools (e.g., MATLAB, Python, Minitab)
  • Understanding of design controls and medical device regulatory frameworks
  • Experience with clinical literature analysis

We also offer a compensation plan as follows:



  • Competitive hourly rate of $28/hr (undergrad) - $30.00/hr (graduate students)
