The Role

Join our mission as our next Global Product Manager, Immunoassays.The Global Product Manager, Immunoassays will be part of the Clinical Laboratory business unit driving product portfolio strategy, overseeing commercialization activities of new/refreshed products, and lifecycle management for specific areas of the VITROS immunodiagnostics assay portfolio. This individual serves as the champion for their product portfolio, and partners cross-functionally with internal and external stakeholders to deliver products that meet customer needs and achieve business growth targets. This role has global product management responsibility for key immunodiagnostics assays in the VITROS portfolio. The desired candidate possesses strong analytical and strategic thinking, a focus on customer experience, and the ability to execute in a regulated environment. The Global Product Manager will drive needed business planning efforts including developing marketing product concepts, business cases, marketing plans, launch plans, and global marketing tools, supporting product quality escalations and mitigation efforts, addressing supply constraints, and identifying product improvement opportunities. This position is Hybrid based in Rochester, NY or Raritan, NJ .

The Responsibilities

Portfolio Strategy:

  • Develops product/portfolio strategy based on full assessment of current market trends, customer needs and competition and sets prioritization based on business needs and impact.

  • Defines and validates target customer needs (from Regional Marketing input and market research) and translates the needs into product portfolio opportunities

  • Develops business cases for new product development projects.

New Product Development:

  • Demonstrates deep understanding of customer needs, the market, and the competition through voice of customer (VOC) and other market research.

  • Defines concepts for new products and/or services based on customer input, competitive analysis, and market assessment.

  • Influences critical trade-off decisions to ensure new products best meet customer needs and provide relevant differentiation.

Planning & Execution:

  • Leads a wide range of commercial launch planning and execution activities in close collaboration with global and regional marketing partners, including developing product value proposition and positioning.

  • Aligns with Marketing Communications, Downstream Marketing & Training organizations to develop best-in-class messaging, tools, and communications to drive product uptake and brand equity.

  • Collaborates with Medical & Scientific Affairs to drive a publication strategy in support of new products and the product portfolio.

Life Cycle Management:

  • Identifies and prioritizes product enhancements.

  • Collaborates with Life Cycle Management team on management of on-market issues

  • Applies product lifecycle knowledge to develop multi-generational plan for current portfolio and future innovation to secure product demand.

The Individual

Required:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree required, with degree focus in biosciences or bioengineering strongly preferred.

  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in industry required

  • Product Management Experience: Minimum 3 years global product management experience, preferably in medical device or diagnostics industry

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills

  • Proven ability to successfully influence and lead others without direct authority

  • Superior problem-solving and analytical skills. Will be responsible for independently making a broad range of critical decisions. Must apply sound judgment, escalating issues and decisions when necessary.

  • Strong collaboration skills and willingness to be a team player to solve problems and incorporate input from various sources.

  • This position is not currently eligible for visa sponsorship.

  • Travel: 20% Domestic and/or international travel required

Preferred:

  • MBA (or equivalent business education in marketing or finance) strongly preferred.

  • Internal Customers:Commercial / Sales, R&D, Global Services Organization, Quality, Regulatory Affairs, Medical, Scientific and Clinical Affairs, IT, Manufacturing and Supply Chain Operations, Procurement, Project Management Organization

  • External Customers: Customers, suppliers, external development partners, professional and trade associations

The Work Environment

Hybrid office environment. Must have the discipline, organization skills, and self-motivation to work autonomously and collectively with internal team members that are office or remotely based.

The Physical Demands

No strenuous physical activity, though occasional light lifting of files and related materials is required. 30% of time in meetings, working with team, or talking on the phone, 70% of the time at the desk on computer, doing analytical work. Travel up to 20% domestic and global including airplane, automobile, or train.

Salary Transparency

The salary range for this position takes into account a wide range of factors including education, experience, knowledge, skills, geography, and abilities of the candidate, in addition to internal equity and alignment with market data. At QuidelOrtho, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The salary range for this position is $117,000 to $153,000 and is bonus eligible. QuidelOrtho offers a comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance, along with a 401(k) plan, employee assistance program, Employee Stock Purchase Plan, paid time off (including sick time) and paid Holidays. All benefits are non-contractual, and QuidelOrtho may amend, terminate, or enhance the benefits provided, as it deems appropriate.
