PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Sr Quality Technician I is member of the technical team responsible for ensuring our incoming materials and products meet the specifications required by our customers. This is primarily done through testing samples for critical product characteristics using various instrumentation and lab equipment and ensuring that our ISO procedures are being followed.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES




  1. Product and material testing



  • Perform test to evaluate the quality of incoming materials
  • Conduct scheduled testing of specific properties of our products/finished goods using lab equipment and specific test methods.
  • Document test results using computers
  • Communicate test results to operations personnel and quality/technical leadership
  • Place material on hold as required to prevent customers from receiving poor quality finished goods




  1. Auditing



  • Participate in product audits
  • Participate in ISO audits
  • Conduct process audits as required




  1. Support investigations, experiments, and trials

    • Support investigation of customer complaints
    • Provide support and testing of materials resulting from process experiments and trials
    • Support productivity improvement efforts by making process measurements, observations, and audits as needed.





JOB REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:



  • High School Diploma or equivalent



PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
:



  • Bachelor of Science Degree with lab work in Material Science, Physics, Chemistry or Engineering


  • Experience in a laboratory environment desired.
  • Experience with cellular glass or glass manufacturing desired.



KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:



  • Accomplished at performing and evaluating physical measurements; proficient in test equipment troubleshooting techniques, scientific record keeping, and routine report writing
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with Windows operating systems.
  • Able to use MS Excel spreadsheets effectively, enter data in applications, and navigate basic file management systems.
  • Detail oriented and accurate. Able to follow standard work and procedures.
  • Self-motivated; able to work with minimal supervision
