Quality Engineer - Electrical / Electro-Mechanical Failure Analysis

Location: Valencia, CA (Onsite; temporary assignment in San Diego for several months)

Pay: $64/hour

Schedule: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer III with an electrical engineering background to support failure analysis, product investigations, and quality engineering activities in a laboratory environment. This role focuses on evaluating electro-mechanical medical device components, developing test methods, and leading investigations to identify root causes and improve product reliability.

Responsibilities



  • Lead and support failure analysis investigations for returned and non-returned electro-mechanical devices
  • Analyze electronic systems, components, and RF communication elements to determine failure modes
  • Develop and validate test methods, laboratory procedures, and work instructions
  • Train and mentor technicians performing product testing and investigation activities
  • Review investigation results for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with quality procedures
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, supplier quality, and post-market teams to determine root causes
  • Monitor product performance and escalate non-conformance issues as needed
  • Lead non-conformance investigations and corrective action activities
  • Prepare technical documentation and present investigation findings to cross-functional teams
  • Support engineering initiatives and continuous improvement efforts



Requirements



  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 4+ years of experience in quality engineering, failure analysis, or product investigation
  • Experience analyzing electronic and electro-mechanical systems, including RF communication concepts
  • Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and laboratory investigations simultaneously
  • Willingness to temporarily work in San Diego for several months


Preferred Qualifications



  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience in medical device or regulated manufacturing environments
  • Familiarity with post-market quality systems and complaint investigations
