About Justrite Safety Group

At Justrite Safety Group, we're more than just a collection of industrial safety companies; we're a dynamic organization dedicated to protecting people, property, and the planet. Our ever-growing portfolio of companies collaborates to deliver advanced industrial safety solutions that set the standard for excellence.

As our business continues to grow, we continue to look for top talent to join our team as we lead the charge in revolutionizing industrial safety, ensuring that every worker returns home safe, every workplace remains secure, and our environment thrives for generations to come. With Justrite Safety Group, safety isn't just a priority-it's our passion.

The Contribution You'll bring to this Role:

The Engineering Manager provides hands-on technical leadership for product engineering across the Justrite and Eagle portfolio, with a primary focus on steel-fabricated and molded plastic products used for hazardous material storage, handling, spill prevention, and regulatory compliance. This role leads a team of engineers and designers responsible for new product development (NPD), sustaining engineering, compliance/certification, and engineering support to manufacturing. The Engineering Manager partners closely with Product Management, Quality, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, and Regulatory to deliver safe, reliable, cost-competitive products and to improve processes and performance continuously.

About the Team:

As a member of our Manufacturing Engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to work on innovative projects that directly enhance our production capabilities and drive continuous improvement across our facilities. Our team is committed to optimizing processes, developing cutting-edge tooling and equipment, and resolving complex engineering challenges to ensure the highest standards of quality and efficiency. With a focus on collaboration and excellence, you'll be part of a group that plays a key role in advancing our manufacturing operations. This role offers the chance to work alongside skilled professionals, contribute to meaningful projects, and support the growth of a company that is a leader in safety solutions.

What You'll Do at Justrite:

  • Lead and develop an engineering team (mechanical/product, manufacturing engineering, and CAD/design resources as applicable), including coaching, performance management, and workforce planning.

  • Own end-to-end product engineering execution for assigned product families (e.g., safety cabinets and storage, safety cans and containers, spill and secondary containment, and poly drums), from concept through launch and lifecycle support.

  • Drive NPD using a structured phase-gate process: requirements capture (VOC/market inputs), risk assessment, design reviews, prototyping, validation, and design transfer to manufacturing.

  • Provide sustaining engineering leadership: root cause analysis (RCA), corrective and preventive actions (CAPA), product change control (ECR/ECO), quality escapes, warranty/field issues, and continuous product improvements.

  • Lead product compliance and certification activities, including interpretation and application of applicable codes/standards (e.g., OSHA and NFPA for flammable liquid storage/handling; FM/UL/ULC approvals where applicable), and maintain technical files and test evidence.

  • Define and execute robust verification and validation plans for fabricated steel and molded plastic products (fit/function, structural integrity, leak/spill containment, corrosion/chemical resistance, durability, and environmental performance as applicable).

  • Partner with Operations and Manufacturing Engineering to optimize manufacturability, cost, and throughput: DFM/DFA, tooling/fixture design, weld and assembly methods, powder coat/finish robustness, molding process capability, and routings/standard work.

  • Lead value engineering and cost-out initiatives, including material substitution, design simplification, component standardization, supplier collaboration, and should-cost/VA-VE analysis.

  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and suppliers to qualify new materials and components; manage outsourced engineering content and contract design/testing resources as needed.

  • Establish and maintain product and process documentation: CAD models and drawings, BOMs, specifications, work instructions, test methods, and change records within the ERP/PLM toolset.

  • Support Sales, Customer Service, and key accounts with technical expertise (application guidance, troubleshooting, special configurations, and documentation), ensuring timely and compliant responses.

  • Promote a strong safety culture within Engineering and across cross-functional partners; ensure engineering activities follow safe work practices and applicable EHS policies.

Your Skills and Expertise:

To ensure your success from day one in this role, Justrite requires the following qualifications at a minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related engineering discipline (Master's degree a plus).

  • 6+ years of progressive engineering experience in manufactured products, with 2+ years of people leadership preferred.

  • Demonstrated experience with steel fabricated products (sheet metal, weldments, formed components, assemblies, and finishes) and/or plastic products (injection/blow/rotational molded components) in an industrial environment.

  • Working knowledge of product safety/compliance expectations in industrial environments; familiarity with OSHA and NFPA requirements relevant to flammable liquid storage/handling preferred. Experience with FM, UL/ULC approvals is a plus.

  • Proficiency with 3D CAD (SolidWorks or similar) and engineering documentation practices.

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills; ability to prioritize across multiple programs and deadlines.

  • Clear communicator who can translate technical details for cross-functional stakeholders and customers

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Experience with regulated safety products (chemical storage cabinets, safety cans/containers, secondary containment, drums).

  • Experience with ERP and engineering change workflows.

  • Knowledge of testing methods and lab practices for product validation (including third-party certification testing).

  • Lean / continuous improvement experience (Kaizen, standard work, PFMEA/DFMEA).

Compensation:

The position offers a competitive base salary ranging from $135,000 to $150,000.

Actual base salaries will vary and may be above or below the recommended pay range based on factors such as but not limited to location, relevant experience and performance. Additionally, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan to enhance their overall total compensation package when Justrite Safety Group and their business units achieve annual business and financial targets.
