Airport Public Relations Assistant


Hourly range: $20.08 - $30.13

Job Summary: Provides administrative support to the Marketing/Public Relations and Air Service Development teams at Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport. Assists with public information, marketing, and PR initiatives; responds to passenger inquiries and complaints; processes invoices and credit card receipts; manages customer service and years-of-service awards; orders promotional items; and supports the Travelers Aid program, ACE program, and special events to keep departmental operations on track.


Essential Responsibilities:



  • Purchasing/Contracts/Reports/Supplies: Manage purchase orders, requisitions, and professional service contracts in Milwaukee County's Infor system for the Marketing/PR and Air Service Development teams. Track and reconcile vendor invoices, purchasing records, and credit card receipts, and maintain office supply inventory.
  • Travelers Aid/Passenger Information: Provide administrative support and training for 40+ Airport Information desk volunteers across three shifts. Coordinate uniforms and supplies, share current airline/airport updates, attend bi-annual board meetings, and assist with basic computer issues.
  • Customer Service/Correspondence: Respond to public inquiries regarding airport and travel information through written and verbal communication. Draft correspondence, track passenger feedback, support complaint resolution, and assist with distributing airport news releases.
  • Community Relations/Special Events: Provide administrative coordination for airport events including new air service announcements, news conferences, partnerships, job fairs, art exhibits, and the ACE summer student employment program.
  • Employee Recognition: Manage the MKE Customer Service Award and Employee Years of Service recognition programs and serve on the Employee Recognition Committee.
  • Administrative Support/Office Management: Maintain office procedures and records, place IT and maintenance work orders, answer phones, coordinate meetings, and manage physical and electronic files.
  • Airport Promotional Items: Purchase and track promotional inventory for events, tours, and speaking engagements, and coordinate employee logo apparel orders.



Minimum Requirements:



  • Current resident of the State of Wisconsin.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • At least one (1) year of office experience.
  • Intermediate knowledge of all related computer and software applications, such as word processing and spreadsheets.
  • Must undergo a criminal history background check to maintain security clearance for unescorted access to secured areas of the airport.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • Position requires an individual with strong organizational, writing, and speaking skills to help the Airport provide the best possible experience to passengers. Individuals should have a positive, friendly demeanor and an exceptional level of professionalism and tact while performing multiple tasks simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) speaking and writing skills is a plus but not required.
