Salary: $35.71 - $38.46/hr

Position Summary: Under the direction of the Community School Director or their designee, the Student Resource Coordinator is responsible for the social emotional learning (SEL) initiatives and supports for the community school. The Student Resource Coordinator is responsible for identifying, providing, and overseeing the tiered (tier 1,2, and 3) mental health and social emotional learning interventions and services to children, adolescents and their families within the CS 61 community. The student resource coordinator will be responsible for using various social work methods to support the community, including individual and group counseling, along with whole-school initiatives for students and staff to provide awareness and promote preventative SEL skills. The Student Resource Coordinator is an integral part of the community school team and is responsible for collective implementation of the Essential Community School Framework and the school's mission to help all students thrive.

Essential Duties:



  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Use assessment and evaluation skills to understand the assets and needs of the students, families, and community.
  • Provides at-risk supportive counseling/social services for a caseload of 10-20 individual students referred by self, faculty, administration and other school ancillary staff.
  • Consistently progress monitor interventions and develop student behavior plans when needed.
  • Remains available and provides trauma-informed crisis intervention and de-escalation support during after-school and day-school.
  • Using quantitative and qualitative data, develop and run a variety of social emotional learning groups throughout the school year.
  • Oversee and manage the roll-out and analysis for the DESSA assessment and interventions throughout after-school and support the day school DESSA initiatives.
  • Acts as a site liaison and coach for the Girls on the Run SEL partnership during after-school.
  • Support the implementation of tier 1 social emotional learning (SEL) lessons during after-school to ensure all students are receiving SEL instruction through supporting facilitators and running class push-ins.
  • Active member of the CS 61 counseling team, SITS, and attendance team to ensure that all students are receiving the necessary supports and that the day-school and after-school interventions are aligned.
  • Work with the parent coordinators to hold parent workshops and make family referrals when needed based on community needs.
  • Coordinate social work services and referrals for students and families between the program and other community agencies providing social services.
  • Provide professional development training and activities to staff and teachers around mental health topics including but are not limited to trauma-informed care, SEL, self-care, and de-escalation skills.
  • Updates and maintains consistent cases notes and data, such as attendance data, progress notes, referrals, etc.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.



Minimum Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's Degree Required, master's in social work is preferred.
  • Ability to work effectively with children, adolescents and families from a wide range of cultural, social and economic backgrounds.

  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
  • Strong Written & Verbal Communication skills.
  • Computer Literacy, including knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Internet navigation, and database management.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a willingness to work both independently and in collaboration with colleagues across a spectrum of functional areas.
  • Basic knowledge of DSM-IV, mental status and psychosocial assessments preferred.
  • Good engagement, assessment, crisis intervention skills; able to understand the impact of self in work with clients.
  • Knowledge of and acts from a trauma-informed and strength-based lens.
  • Ability to engage and diffuse crisis situations.
  • Strong focus on community organizing and partnerships.
