SoCalGas is seeking qualified candidates for the Lead Electrician - Storage position at the Aliso Canyon facility. Starting pay will be 64.05 / hr.




Job Overview


We are looking for a licensed Industrial Electrician to lead a crew while performing a wide range of skilled electrical work, associated with the operation, maintenance, and construction of compressor station and storage field systems and to provide work direction and on-the-job training at our Aliso Canyon Facility.



Primary Purpose


Successful candidate will be responsible for following established safety procedures and Company guidelines to perform a wide range of skilled electrical work associated with the Transmission & Storage Department.



Job Duties


Provides work direction and monitors work of lower-level Electricians in the work unit. Performs a wide range of skilled electrical work and other specialized electrical work independently, or as a member of a crew, that is associated with the operation, maintenance, and construction of an industrial compressor station and storage field systems. Coordinates the logistics for projects, communicates with other electrical tradesmen, engineers, and customer(s) to plan and execute the work.



Performs in a lead capacity in the electrical section. Provides work direction, guidance and schedules work within the group to optimize the available work force in meeting deadlines. Trains other employees. Performs duties of lower classifications within the job progression. Inspects work of lower level employees and contractors to ensure that established quality standards and applicable electrical & utility codes & standards are met. Provides written estimates for time and material costs and assists in the development of project scopes. Prepares material lists and orders materials. Reviews invoices, contracts and time sheets for accuracy. Reviews wiring methods and circuit designs and makes suggestions for corrections. Creates and redlines as-builts.


Interacts with job requesters and/or Engineering regarding project changes, costs, quality standards, specifications and completion dates.


Provides feedback to Supervisor on the progress and performance of lower level employees.



Utilizes computer to operate standard company programs and software.



Coordinates project logistics and communicates with other electrical tradesmen and engineers to plan and complete the finished product.


If applicable, observes, tracks and sign-off on apprenticeship hours.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications



  • Minimum of 7 years of industrial electrical experience working with up to 4160VAC as a Journeyman.


  • Must currently possess and maintain a valid California State License as an Industrial Electrician.


  • Must possess a valid California driver's license.


  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test if a new hire or transferring from a non-safety sensitive job.


  • Requires participation in the Company's random drug and alcohol testing program.


  • Must possess math and basic computer skills.


  • Must demonstrate the following skills in a structured panel interview: 1.) experience leading teams, special projects and providing work direction, 2.) an ability to train and mentor peers and others, and 3.) good communication and adaptive leadership skills.


  • Must pass a structured panel interview. Must pass pre-qualification examinations. Battery Assessments; Physical Abilities test requires: Level A (Very Heavy).



Desired Qualifications


A working knowledge of general contracting. Prior experience in providing work direction to others. Competent Person(s) and Leadership Training. Advanced mathematics. Certified in OSHA 30, First Aid-CPR, and NFPA70E. Specialized electrical equipment and tool training (Such as VFD, Soft-starters, and multi-meter, oscilloscopes, etc.). Previous experience in the Gas/Oil Industry.



Other


Must be able to work overtime and emergency call-outs. Legible handwriting. Effective oral communication. Some assignments may require Class A license with special endorsements (i. e., X or H). May be required to job site report.




Physical Demands


Frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighting 50 pounds or more with lifting objects in excess of 100 pounds as required. This job requires a very significant level of physical strength and endurance needed to effectively and safely perform the job duties as listed above (e.g., upper body/lower body/torso/back strength).




Environmental Conditions


Work is predominately outdoors or in an engine/equipment and generator & motor control room. Inside work is in temperature and non-temperature controlled environment with exposure to electrical and mechanical equipment. Outdoor assignments may be exposed to the extremes of climate and temperatures, high noise levels, rotating and vibrating equipment, rough terrain, occasional work on ladders or high platforms, as well as confined spaces are that are in varied climatic conditions. Exposure to electrical and mechanical equipment and normal risks associated with operating a motor vehicle. Work may require handling hazardous materials and hazardous waste. Work maybe in varying heights up to 60 feet.



Operates a wide variety of construction hand & powered (pneumatic, gasoline powered, electric) tools, manual and powered digging tools, hand-held electronic meters & instruments, computer, heavy equipment (e. g., bucket truck, fork lift).
