Job Summary:

The Incentive Compensation Manager will lead the strategy, design, implementation, governance, and ongoing optimization of incentive compensation programs across multiple sales teams. This role is responsible for ensuring plans align with company objectives, drive the right behaviors, and are operationally sound and analytically rigorous.

This leader will oversee the end-to-end incentive compensation process, including plan design, modeling, payout calculations, reporting, analytics, and system administration. The role will also evaluate and potentially lead the development or enhancement of an Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) system.

Location: Nashville, TN Onsite/Hybrid


Responsibilities/Essential Duties:



  • Lead the design of incentive compensation plans across diverse sales roles (field, inside sales, national accounts, etc.).
  • Develop financially sound models to evaluate plan effectiveness, cost of sales, and risk scenarios.
  • Ensure plans are clear, measurable, and administratively feasible.
  • Manage payout cycles, including validation, approvals, and issue resolution.
  • Deliver ongoing analytics on plan performance, attainment distribution and ROI
  • Serve as system owner for the Incentive Compensation Management platform (e.g., Exactly).
  • Lead and develop the Incentive Compensation team responsible for payout calculations and reporting.
  • Establish SLAs and quality control standards to ensure timely and accurate compensation processing.
  • Drive process improvement initiatives to increase efficiency and reduce manual work.
  • Directly manage IC team members: set goals, provide coaching, and develop their skills in compensation operations

  • You are comfortable presenting IC design recommendations and analytics to senior leadership
  • You understand the nuances of pharma or medical device sales comp, territory alignments, product launches and quota-setting in dynamic markets



Basic Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree & 5+ years' directly related experience.



Preferred Qualifications:



  • 5+ years of experience in incentive compensation, sales operations, finance, or related analytical function
  • Experience managing end-to-end payout processes and IC governance.
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing a team member or direct report
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel and Power BI with strong financial modeling and analytical capabilities
  • Hands-on experience with an Incentive Compensation Management (ICM) platform such as Xactly(Strongly Preferred)
  • Familiarity with CRM (e.g.,Salesforce), ERP and payroll integrations
  • Strong understanding of sales planning, quota setting, and territory alignment
