Position Summary

The Ultra Maritime Supplier Quality function is responsible for ensuring the effectiveness and fulfilment of Ultra's Quality Policy, which is to comply fully in the conduct of the Company's business with all applicable regulatory and customer required specifications. Additionally, to maintain an effective Quality Management System working in partnership with the Supply Chain, Production and Quality Engineering teams to ensure that products and processes received conform to applicable standards and specifications, and the incidence and costs of quality non-conformances are constantly monitored and improved, while maintaining the highest practicable standards of supplier quality and delivery.

Job Description

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Non-Conformance Process Support and Management
  • Liaison between Engineering, Manufacturing and Procurement for material quality issues
  • Supplier QMS Audits and Action Verification
  • Supplier Continuous Improvement Activities (i.e. Process Audit, etc)
  • Assist incoming inspection team or suppliers with First Article Inspections (FAI) for approval of all new parts / suppliers. Maintain data as needed for AS9102 accountability
  • Request for Engineering Approval Inspections (REA)
  • Coordinate all efforts for supplied non-conforming material, getting inputs from design, manufacturing and supply chain management
  • Assist with RMA Processing as needed to return material to the supplier for analysis, rework, or replacement
  • Maintain the AS9100 approved Supplier Quality system and support AS9100 Audits as required
  • Provide support for any customer and/or DCMA visits related to part quality as needed
  • Investigate and address customer complaints regarding purchased part quality. Lead root cause analysis investigations, preferred experience with 8D methodology
  • Work with Design Engineering and Supply Chain Management to continuously develop and improve the adequacy of existing incoming receiving processes and inspection systems for their commodity area
  • Evaluate new suppliers and ensure that due diligence is given to identifying and managing the associated risks for their commodity area
  • Assist the Supplier Quality Manager with the approval process when new suppliers are added, their scope of approvals are updated, or there are changes in the location of manufacture, process, critical equipment, ownership, etc. With Supply Chain Management oversight, actively approve and disapprove suppliers as required
  • Develop plans with suppliers to increase quality and reduce internal sampling of their product at Ultra Maritime
  • Responsible for staying in compliance with EEO, ADA and all other applicable governmental requirements the company is required to be in compliance with
  • All staff are required to take reasonable care for their own health and safety by adhering to established safety policies and procedures, to not willfully place at risk the health or safety of any individual and to wear personal protective equipment as specified in work instructions
  • Performs all other duties as required, requested or needed

Education and Experience Requirements:

Must be a US Citizen. Must have a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Applied Science, Quality Assurance or equivalent field. Two plus years of experience in quality or a quality related field in a manufacturing environment.

Other:

  • Must have excellent communication skills - written and verbal
  • Must have excellent understanding in root cause analysis and the ability to lead teams in the use of the data. Preferred experience with 8D methodology
  • Must be willing to travel to domestic and international suppliers (>50% first 3 months for training, then <30%)
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), ERP systems, Minitab and other Quality assurance tools
  • Must be proficient using GD&T and basic metrology equipment (caliper, micrometer, etc.)
  • Experience with electronic components, PCBAs, and/or batteries is preferred
  • Experience in data analytics tools such as PowerBI is preferred

Expected Compensation: The expected compensation range for this role is

$91,520.00 - $137,280.00

Ultra Maritime considers multiple factors when determining final compensation, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, a candidate's relevant experience and education, certifications and training, as well as current business and market conditions.
