ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develops, implements, and evaluates systems and programs towards the provision of quality services within REACT and Critical Care Transport (CCT) service lines.

  • Collaborates with Medical Directors, Director, and other members of the team within the REACT department.

  • Actively participates in the development of business plan and outreach for the REACT department.

  • Requires a broad knowledge of critical care/emergency medicine, business development, marketing and planning.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities in complex situations.

  • Maintains clinical proficiency in accordance with HEMS Tier III protocols and practice standards

  • Possesses experience with process improvement in operations, quality, and organizational change.

  • Holds knowledge of continuous quality improvement management principles and practices.

  • Develops, implements, evaluates, and enforces department and system policies, procedures and necessary protocols to ensure compliance with all regulatory agencies and accreditation organizations.

  • Possesses strong relationship skills with a variety of internal and external contact relationships including physicians, nurses, instructors, EMS providers, and external stakeholders/organizations.

  • Experience in areas of scheduling and providing oversight for day-to-day operations within the department.

  • Strong communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal. Able to communicate effectively and persuasively with individuals and groups through compassion, creativity, and consistent visibility.

  • Foundational knowledge and experience with CAMTS program accreditation.

  • Supports the coordination of budget preparation, determining purchasing priorities, and making capital expenditure recommendations to the Director of EMS.

  • Participates in and leads hospital and department committees

  • Performs related duties based on departmental and organizational need.

  • Directly supervises 15-25. Indirectly supervises 40-50. Supervisory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with management

  • Include supervisory responsibilities such as employee evaluations, performance management, and timekeeping as applicable.

  • Other duties as assigned based on department need

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Minimum Required:

  • Bachelor's degree required

  • 2 years of supervisory/leadership experience required

  • Must be familiar with the workings of out-of-hospital emergency care services (EMS), the emergency department, trauma services and critical care

  • Previous experience in both out-of-hospital and in-hospital emergency and critical care is required.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree preferred

  • Proficient with Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Word.

  • Wide ranging knowledge of the types of programs used in healthcare and the ability to learn new software.

CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE

Minimum Required:

  • Illinois and Wisconsin state licensure as RN or Paramedic

    • Paramedic applicants- National Registry Required

    • Paramedic applicants- Critical Care Paramedic Endorsement Required

  • Illinois PHRN licensure obtained within 1 year

  • Certified Flight Transport Registered Nurse (CFRN) within 2 years

  • Must maintain state registry eligibility to work in the state of practice.

  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) required within three (3) months

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA)

  • International Trauma Life Support (ITLS) certification or Pre-hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS) certification within 1 year

    • Paramedic applicant must have PHTLS or ITLS

    • RN's- Trauma Nurse Core Curriculum (TNCC) accepted

  • National Institute Healthcare Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification required within six (6) months

  • For Paramedic Applicants NIMS Training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat awareness RN Applicants NIMS Training IS 100, 200, 700, 800 and HazMat awareness required within 6 months

Ability to follow both written and oral instructions accurately and consistently.

LEVEL OF SUPERVISION

General Supervision: The supervisor provides general guidelines, priorities, and deadlines, but the employee is expected to use initiative to complete recurring tasks independently. Specific instructions are given only for new or unusual situations.

PAY RANGE:

$106,503.83 - $170,406.13
