About the Role:

This Senior Stakeholder Engagement position supports the Department of Energy's (DOE) Building Technologies Office (BTO) in advancing national energy efficiency and innovation goals through strategic program support and stakeholder engagement, with a particular focus on the ENERGY STAR program and its intersection with DOE initiatives. This role requires an individual with unparalleled expertise in the ENERGY STAR ecosystem, its various program components, and its collaborative relationship with federal partners. This position will be instrumental in fostering engagement, identifying synergy opportunities, and guiding the strategic direction of programs that drive energy reductions across commercial, industrial, and residential sectors.

This role requires a highly experienced professional with a deep understanding of national-level energy efficiency programs and a proven ability to provide strategic support within a dynamic federal environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing expert guidance and analytical support to federal staff on the ENERGY STAR program, encompassing its Commercial & Industrial, Residential, and Brand aspects.
  • Facilitating and enhancing stakeholder engagement and outreach efforts for ENERGY STAR, leveraging extensive experience in building and fostering strategic partnerships.
  • Analyzing and identifying the overlap and interactions between ENERGY STAR programs, DOE's Better Buildings Better Plants program, and the broader portfolios of BTO and ITO (Industrial Technologies Office).
  • Assist federal staff in developing and implementing strategies to enhance the effectiveness and reach of federal energy efficiency initiatives through collaborative efforts.
  • Serving as a key collaboration resource and liaison between the DOE, EPA, and other critical stakeholders, assisting federal staff with cohesive program development and execution.
  • Conducting analysis of program performance, identifying best practices, and advising on strategic adjustments to maximize impact and achieve national energy goals.
  • Drafting high-level briefing materials, presentations, and reports to support senior leadership on highlighting program progress, challenges, and opportunities.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

  • Over 15 years of progressively responsible experience in leading and directing national-level energy efficiency and federal policy programs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the ENERGY STAR program across its Commercial & Industrial, Residential, and Brand components.
  • Extensive experience in stakeholder engagement and outreach within the context of large-scale federal programs.
  • A comprehensive understanding of federal policy development and implementation processes related to energy and environmental sustainability.
  • Exceptional strategic planning, and program management skills within a federal policy environment.
  • Proven ability to build and manage strategic partnerships with diverse organizations, including government agencies, private industry, and educational institutions.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively at all levels.
  • Ability to navigate complex inter-agency and federal-contractor relationships and drive consensus on critical energy policy and program decisions.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Successful drug screening.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a security or clearance badge.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Over 15 years of direct experience with US Federal programs in senior advisory or leadership roles preferably related to energy efficiency initiatives.
  • Profound understanding of the overlap and interactions between ENERGY STAR, DOE's Better Buildings Better Plants program, and the portfolios of BTO and ITO.
  • Experience serving as a lead and ambassador for significant clean energy initiatives, such as the Clean Energy, Education and Empowerment (C3E) program.

Location/Work Arrangement:

  • This position is a Hybrid Work Arrangement in Washington, DC.
