The Transit and Rail Practice is seeking a Senior Traction Power Engineer in Oregon.

The Senior Traction Power Engineer will support the continued growth of our Rail Transit Systems practice. This role will lead and perform preliminary and detailed engineering design for traction power systems supporting people mover, light rail, heavy rail, and commuter rail projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise and leadership skills to deliver safe, reliable, and code-compliant rail electrification infrastructure, including substations, third rail, and overhead contact systems.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead a group of traction power engineers and electrical designers to develop traction power construction document packages.
  • Design traction power substations, one-line diagram, protective relay schematics, equipment layout, site plans, feeder cables, duct bank and conduit layouts, and grounding systems.
  • Coordinate with other systems engineers for systems integration.
  • Coordinate with electric utility companies to design the medium AC voltage power feeds to the traction power substations.
  • Perform traction engineering studies including short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis.
  • Develop specifications and cost estimates.
  • Review project submittals and requests for information (RFI) from vendors & contractors.
  • Provide testing and commissioning support.
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Project Management experience
  • 10 to 15 years of experience with 600, 750 and 1500Vdc traction power substation design
  • Professional Engineer's license is required.
  • Experience with North American transit industry is highly desirable.
