The Transit and Rail Practice is seeking a Traction Power Engineer in Oregon.

This position offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the design of rail transit traction power systems for subway, light rail, streetcar, and electric trolleybus projects.

The successful candidate will work closely with project managers and senior engineers in developing traction power substation construction documents and gaining practical experience in providing design support during construction services.

What You'll Do Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist senior engineers in the design and analysis of traction power distribution systems.
  • Support the development of electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and equipment layouts.
  • Perform electrical engineering calculations related to voltage drop, conduit & cable sizing, and grounding calculations.
  • Perform traction engineering studies including short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash hazard analysis.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports, specifications, and construction documents.
  • Conduct field inspections and site visits to gather data and observe construction activities.
  • Assist in the testing and commissioning of traction power substations.
What You Bring Required Qualifications:
  • BS in Electrical Engineering (Power Option)
  • 4+ years relevant experience
  • Good analytical and communication skills
  • Knowledge of electrical power systems and circuit analysis.
  • Familiarity with AC and DC power conversion concepts.
  • Knowledge of power system analysis software (e.g., ETAP, SKM Power Tools).
  • EIT certificate is a plus.
