Job Title: Communications and Events Coordinator

Job Summary:

The Communications and Events Coordinator is responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing and communications strategies that support organizational goals, brand awareness, and audience engagement. This role leads digital and print marketing efforts, content development, and storytelling across multiple channels, while also supporting the planning and execution of major organizational events.

Approximately 70% of this role focuses on marketing and communications and 30% on event planning and execution, including 3-5 large-scale annual events. The ideal candidate is a creative and detail-oriented professional with strong digital marketing expertise, excellent writing skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, manage, and execute digital marketing initiatives, including website content, social media platforms, email newsletters, and digital campaigns.

  • Create and edit compelling written content for newsletters, blogs, newsroom articles, web pages, and marketing collateral.

  • Maintain and enhance the organization's online presence through content updates, SEO best practices, and performance tracking.

  • Support planning, marketing, and execution of 3-5 large annual events, including promotion, materials development, and on-site communications.

  • Coordinate and support the DBMI Research Seminar Series, and Wellbeing program, including the creation of promotional materials (e.g., flyers), event promotion, and management of the associated procurement processes.

  • Develop event marketing plans, timelines, and promotional content to drive engagement and attendance.

  • Ensure brand standards, tone, and messaging are consistent across all communications channels.

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English, Public Relations, or a related field.

    • A combination of education and related technical/military/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for a bachelor's degree on a year for year basis.

  • Two (2) years of professional experience in marketing, communications, or a related field.

    • An advanced degree (Masters or Doctorate) may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis if the degree is in a field of study directly related to the work assignment.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree (M.S.) in Digital Marketing, Marketing, Communications, or a related field.

  • Demonstrated experience with digital marketing channels, including web, social media, and email marketing.

  • One (1) or more years of experience in healthcare marketing or a regulated industry; prefer to have experience in CU Anschutz and / or Department of Biomedical Informatics.

  • Working experience and familiarity with marketing and communications tools such as:

    • Content management systems (CMS)

    • Email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact, HubSpot)

    • Social media management tools (e.g., Hootsuite, Sprout Social)

    • Analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics)

    • Basic design tools (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite, Canva)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

  • Knowledge of digital marketing strategies, content marketing, and brand management.

  • Strong project management and organizational skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to translate complex information into clear, audience-friendly messaging.

  • Creative thinking with strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Comfortable managing event-related responsibilities alongside ongoing marketing work.

  • Understanding of healthcare communications best practices and compliance considerations (preferred).

  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as $54,255 - $69,000.

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
