Job Objective:


The Books Sales Associate is responsible for supporting The Salvation Army's online books operation by performing a variety of tasks related to the listing, shipping, scanning, and organization of books for sale across multiple platforms. This position plays a vital role in ensuring accurate listings, timely order fulfillment, and excellent customer service through professional communication with buyers on Amazon and eBay.

Essential Functions:



  • Scan, sort, and evaluate donated books to determine salability for online marketplaces.
  • Create accurate and detailed product listings on Amazon and eBay, including title, author, ISBN, condition, and other relevant data.
  • Prepare, package, and ship sold items in a timely and secure manner while maintaining tracking accuracy and adherence to shipping policies.
  • Maintain organized storage and shelving systems for both listed and unlisted inventory.
  • Respond to customer service inquiries through eBay and Amazon messaging systems promptly and professionally.
  • Monitor account performance metrics and assist in maintaining high seller ratings and compliance with marketplace standards.
  • Track and report inventory movements, assisting with restocking and replenishment as needed.
  • Assist with marketplace monitoring, including pricing, competitor comparison, and identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Meet or exceed departmental productivity and accuracy standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with Salvation Army policies.
  • Assist with general operations as needed, including packaging, product handling, and warehouse organization.
  • Attend regular meetings and training sessions to stay current with procedures and performance expectations.
  • Support the mission and values of The Salvation Army in all activities and communications.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:



  • High School Diploma or GED required.



Experience:



  • Previous experience in retail or online book sales preferred (Amazon or eBay experience is a plus).
  • Familiarity with barcode scanners, computers, and general inventory systems preferred.



Skills/Abilities:



  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient in basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and online marketplaces.
  • Capable of working independently and efficiently managing time.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment while maintaining accuracy.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment background check.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed in a typical office or warehouse environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. The environment may be dusty and may experience temperature fluctuations based on weather.
