Lead Physician, Cardiothoracic Surgical Acute and Critical Care

This position is designed for a physician with demonstrated leadership capability and interest in shaping the future of cardiothoracic surgical care. The successful candidate will provide expert care to high-acuity cardiac surgery patients while playing a key role in multidisciplinary coordination, quality oversight, protocol development, and education across the continuum of care.

Clinical responsibilities span the Cardiothoracic Intensive Care Unit (CTICU) and acute cardiovascular surgery units, with expanded leadership opportunities in:

* Implementation and standardization of clinical protocols and best practices

* Quality improvement and outcomes initiatives

* Interdisciplinary collaboration across surgery, anesthesia, cardiology, nursing, and allied health teams

* Education and mentorship of trainees and advanced practice providers

* Strategic growth and innovation within the CTICU and perioperative cardiac care pathways

This role is ideal for candidates with prior experience or aspirations in clinical leadership, program development, or operational excellence within a high-performing academic health system.

Qualifications

* MD or DO degree with board certification in Critical Care or Cardiothoracic Surgery

* Substantial critical care experience in cardiac anesthesia, cardiothoracic surgery ICU, and/or advanced cardiovascular inpatient care

* Demonstrated leadership ability in complex, time-sensitive clinical environments

* Exceptional communication, collaboration, and team-building skills

* Eligibility for New York State medical licensure
