Parker Meggitt (Securaplane) a recent addition to Parker Hannifin, is a global leader in the Commercial and Military Aerospace markets, specializing in a wide range of products including fire and smoke detection systems, extinguishing systems, bleed air overheat detection systems, actuators, rudder pedal assemblies, pumps, fuel gauging systems, and high-temperature cables. Located in Oro Valley, AZ, this site is within the Fire Safety & Power Systems Division (FSPSD) and is a key supplier of camera systems, energy storage products, and security systems in aerospace markets. We work directly with some of the largest aerospace companies in the world, including Airbus, Boeing, Gulfstream, Bombardier, Embraer, and Textron, among others

Quality Intern

Position Summary

The Quality Intern position directly supports the Quality Engineers in embracing key departmental objectives geared towards overall customer satisfaction and burn down of Quality Clinic Inventory

Job Core Responsibilities

  • Creating NCMRs

  • Coordination NCMR disposition

  • Transacted disposition non-conforming material through Visual ERP

  • Collect and chart non-conforming material information

  • Assist Quality Engineers with ZDP implementation

  • Coordinate Measurement System Analysis (MSA/Gage R&R)

  • Gather Statistical data

  • Chart Statistical information

  • Assist Quality Engineers with Internal Audit tracking

  • Assist Quality Engineers RCCA tracking

  • Accountable to prepare reports by collecting and summarizing data to utilize in corrective action responses, countermeasures, and continuous improvement projects

  • Accountable to assist in movement of product through the Quality Clinic

  • Improved responsiveness to RCCA investigations

  • Support operations by improving product flow through Quality Clinic

  • Maintain an acceptable attendance record. Regular, consistent and punctual attendance is required.

  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Physical Requirements

  • Approximately 80% sitting and 20% standing/walking about indoors

  • Lift and Carry up to 35 lbs.

  • Use head and neck in static position, looking up/down and side-to-side.

  • Perform light lifting from floor, table and shelf.

  • Push and pull carts or mobile tables, loaded and unloaded.

  • Minimal: heavy lifting from floor or higher, bending, twisting, climbing, lifting arms above shoulders, kneeling.

  • Minimal: exposure to excessive noise, hazardous chemicals, hazardous equipment, uneven walking surfaces

  • Typing with computer and keyboard

Qualifications

Education: Currently studying under a relevant engineering degree at a 4-year university (Studying under a postgraduate degree is also acceptable)

Certifications: N/A

Years of Experience: Currently enrolled in Junior level Engineering classes (300 level) or higher level with a minimum GPA of 3.0

Work Schedule: Work between 12 and 30 hours per week depending on school schedule and school commitments.

This is a year-round internship position with the potential to last through graduation. Work hours are flexible and determined based on school schedule. Up to 20 hours per week during the school year with potential for more hours during breaks and in the summer. Candidates must be local to the Tucson/Oro Valley areas.

Skills:

  • Education in electrical and/or mechanical engineering experience a plus

  • Working knowledge of SPC, DOE, Lean Manufacturing, FMEA, and Six Sigma a plus

  • Proficient using Microsoft Office products, databases, and MRP systems

  • Ability to multi-task essential

  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills

  • Strong work ethic

  • Confidential and trustworthy

  • Enthusiastic, motivated by continuous improvement

  • Attention to detail is required for this position
