Overview
The Department of Data Analytics and Information Systems (DAIS) in the Jon M. This position is based on the Logan campus and primarily involves in-person instruction.

This role leads a required, Communication-Intensive (CI) undergraduate course in Professional Communication with AI. The course prepares business students to communicate, think, and lead in an AI-augmented workplace. The position centers on teaching excellence, continuous course innovation, and equipping students with durable communication skills for a data-centric, AI-forward business environment.

The ideal candidate sees AI not as a replacement for human communication skills but as a tool that elevates critical thinking, clarity, and professional judgment. Lecturers are recognized as essential faculty members within the DAIS Department and participate in department service, curriculum development, and governance activities.

Responsibilities
The successful applicant will teach and continually refine a required undergraduate course in Professional Communication with AI. The course integrates advanced business writing, persuasion, research, and AI-enabled workflows to support career readiness across all business majors.
  • Teaching advanced business writing and editing, emphasizing clarity, concision, structure, tone, precision, and audience adaptation.
  • Coaching students in persuasive written, oral, and visual communication.
  • Teaching and modeling effective teamwork and professional collaboration, including communication in team-based and AI-supported environments.
  • Designing learning experiences that help students use generative AI strategically and ethically in professional work.
  • Teaching students how to structure prompts, refine AI outputs, critically evaluate AI-generated content, integrate credible business research, and document AI use responsibly.
  • Guiding students in producing executive-style deliverables, research briefs, presentations, and career materials.
  • Incorporating experiential learning elements that mirror real-world business communication.
  • Engaging in ongoing course research and development to keep pace with emerging AI tools, communication technologies, and employer expectations.
  • Responsibilities also include providing rigorous, developmental feedback on student work; fostering collaboration within the classroom; participating in department and university service; and contributing to a collegial, student-centered academic environment.

This is a teaching-focused position with no traditional research requirement beyond pedagogical innovation and course development.
