SUMMARY: Under the general supervision of the Maintenance Superintendent, Anadarko Plant, the Mechanical Supervisor plans, organizes, directs and evaluates the safe, reliable and efficient mechanical maintenance of the power plant.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Mechanical Maintenance Staff

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Includes the following: other duties may be assigned. Maintains all mechanical equipment in the plant to ensure safe and reliable operation. Issues daily work assignments to maintenance personnel, checks progress of work and provides guidance to ensure quality work is performed necessary to support the safe and reliable operation of the plant. Develops schedules to ensure that all parts, tools, and equipment necessary to maintain plant reliability and efficiency are available. Maintains an ongoing knowledge of plant equipment and its current status. Maintains accurate up-to-date records and history of all plant mechanical equipment. Conducts and participates in training and safety programs to ensure the safety and reliability of personnel and equipment. Evaluates costs and maintains adequate, but cost effective, inventories of parts and tools necessary for effective plant maintenance. Maintains a comprehensive preventive maintenance program, to ensure that necessary maintenance is performed to operate the plant safely and in compliance with all state and federal regulations Recommends personnel actions such as promotions, discipline and recognition and conducts performance appraisals of personnel to develop skills within the department. Ensures that all department employees are competent and properly trained in the skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform their duties in a safe and effective manner. Schedules and conducts daily safety meetings, investigates all accidents or near accidents in the department. Assists the Anadarko Plant Staff in planning and coordinating unit outages so that maintenance work is well organized, efficient and cost effective. Prepares outage cost estimates and manpower requirements. Coordinates combined maintenance efforts of plant personnel and factory representatives. Identifies and supervises new construction, equipment installation, and any equipment modifications necessary to ensure safe reliable operation. May serve as project coordinator on projects within the Capital Review Team approval limits for supervisors. Maintains updated drawings and prints on all mechanical systems. Develops all necessary guidelines and procedures for implementation of mechanical maintenance training and advancement programs consistent with all applicable policies and procedures. Reviews, updates and assures compliance with all plant procedures. Oversees the plant code welding program to ensure adequate training time. And is responsible for ensuring compliance with certified welding repairs. Must develop and maintain a positive work environment while simultaneously giving and earning the team's respect.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviors required of this position.

Education and Experience: An associate's degree in a technically related area and five (5) years of directly related, progressive mechanical maintenance experience in a power plant or similar industrial environment is required. Related education may be substituted for experience at a rate of one (1) year of education for two (2) years of experience. Previous supervisory experience is preferred.

Language Skills: Requires the ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Requires the ability to effectively respond orally and in writing to common inquiries from employees, regulatory agencies, or outside entities.

Math Skills: Requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Also requires the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry to plant situations.

Reasoning Ability: Requires the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Also requires the ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: Ability to use a personal computer required. Experience using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project Management and applicable PeopleSoft applications is preferred.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: This position requires a current driver's license.

WORK SCHEDULE REQUIREMENTS: The employee must be willing to work in excess of a standard workweek and travel on short notice. On occasion, the incumbent may work a rotating shift schedule.
