Position Summary:
The Designer Trainee supports the design and layout of roof and floor truss systems by interpreting architectural plans and utilizing engineering software. This role focuses on developing accurate, efficient designs while adhering to 84 Lumber's design standards, policies, and procedures (P&P). The trainee will also assist with customer support, documentation, and internal coordination to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities:

• Read and interpret architectural and structural drawings to create roof and floor truss placement layouts in accordance with current 84 Lumber design practices.

• Design roof and floor trusses using engineering software, ensuring accuracy, structural integrity, and optimization while adhering to company P&P.

• Specify all required hardware and components necessary for truss installation.

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date Job Tracking Sheets for all assigned projects.

• Issue approval letters to customers in accordance with company procedures when required.

• Provide support to sales teams and customers, assisting with design-related questions and revisions.

• Ensure all plans, documents, and office workspaces are organized, properly logged, and maintained.

• Attend required meetings and participate in team discussions or committees as directed by supervisors.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information to others one-on-one.
