Department:Public Works Department Organizational Unit:Roadway and Bridge Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time Open Until Filled. $23.86 to $26.25 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. South Area/Melbourne/Travels Countywide. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Performs skilled technical work monitoring the road and bridge construction contractors to ensure that the work methods and materials used are in compliance with County specifications and codes and the Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) Standard Specifications. REQUIREMENTS: Five (5) years of experience in the construction or inspection of roads and bridges; performing formal Road Condition Assessments (e.g., Pavement Condition Index/PCI) to assist in long-term maintenance scheduling which includes experience inspecting milling operations and flexible pavement (structural and friction course); overseeing recycling techniques, specifically Full Depth Reclamation (FDR). Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. Experience in ADA Transition Plan compliance regarding curb ramp slopes, detectable warnings, and sidewalk cross-slopes is preferred. Experience in FDOT Standard Specifications for Road Construction and Standard Plans for Road Construction which includes stabilization and drainage challenges specific to dirt road paving is preferred. Experience in road preservation applications, including Reclamite, Micro-surfacing, and Chip Seal applications is preferred. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain prior to employment, a valid Florida driver's license and maintain said license during the term of employment. A current Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Intermediate Maintenance of Traffic (MOT)/Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) certification is preferred. FDOT CTQP Asphalt Paving Level 1 and Level 2 certifications are preferred. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
