Job Summary

The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is currently seeking a Simulation Tech Coordinator to join our team of professionals.

Duties include:

  • Coordinates recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and training of per diem simulation technicians. Assists with the development of guidelines, manuals, and reference sheets to streamline and train personnel on simulation setup, breakdown, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Supervise and support simulation technicians and student assistants. Assist in scheduling technical coverage for simulation sessions. Train staff and faculty on equipment use and simulation best practices.
  • Set up, operate and troubleshoot simulation technologies including: High fidelity manikins and task trainers. Virtual and augmented reality platforms, physiologic monitoring systems, and scenario control software Ensure equipment functionality and readiness prior to simulation sessions. Run live simulations, managing manikin physiology, embedded AV cues and scenario flow.
  • Collaborates with faculty and simulation educators in scenario preparation, case uploads, moulage and equipment staging. Contributes to the design and development of simulation scenarios.
  • Provides specialized technical support and maintenance for computer-based systems and their components, including AV systems, vital monitors, medical equipment, and simulation equipment. Collaborate with IT to ensure network connectivity, software updates, cybersecurity and hardware maintenance.
  • Audits, tests, and ensures all equipment and systems operate efficiently in accordance with current specification requirements, staying apprised of periodic product information releases and updates. Optimize workflows for tracking inventory, supplies, and equipment lifecycle needs.
  • Coordinates the implementation of assigned Objective Structured Clinical Examinations (OSCEs) and other simulation events such as tours, orientation, and simulation activities as assigned.
  • Serves as the primary liaison with equipment vendors for maintenance and repair needs, including coordinating service requests, scheduling, and managing equipment pickup and return logistics.
  • Supports procurement activities in collaboration with the Technology Manager, including preparing and submitting shopping carts/purchase requests, monitoring supply usage trends, and contributing to establishing appropriate re-order thresholds to maintain operational readiness.
  • Coordinates scheduling of simulation spaces, equipment, and staff, creates simulation usage reports and data to support evaluation, accreditation, and budget planning.
  • Maintain inventory of simulation equipment, medical supplies, consumables, and replacement parts. Coordinate equipment repairs, warranties, upgrades, and vendor communication.
  • Demonstrates and teaches technical aspects of operating simulators to faculty members and support staff. Instructs users in the use of the system and networking technology through documentation and other educational methods. Develops and maintains technical manuals that document hardware and software setup and describe process steps for different systems for reference and training.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and innovation. Assist in research, grants, and scholarly activities related to simulation.
  • Maintain documentation of simulation activities, equipment logs and maintenance records. Ensure compliance with institutional policies, safety standards and accreditation requirements. Supports data collection and reporting for program evaluation.
  • Participates in prebriefing and debriefing support and simulation-based education initiatives. Coordinate and participate in faculty and learner orientation.
  • Performs related duties as required or assigned by supervisor. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
  • Performs essential duties in any emergencies such as hurricanes, public health emergencies, and/or any other university emergency closing. The employee is expected to be available to report to work as needed during university emergency closing with appropriate notification of a department administrator.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree.



Desired Qualifications

Experience providing administrative and logistical simulation support in medical education.
