Our identity platform provides secure access for everyone and everything, helping organizations protect what matters most. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join our team building the authentication libraries that power secure access for Microsoft applications-including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, and Authenticator-as well as thousands of third-party apps. These libraries are foundational to Microsoft's identity platform and are used by millions of developers and end users worldwide. In this role, you will design and implement secure, scalable, and high-performance authentication components that enable seamless single sign-on (SSO) and access to cloud resources. You will work closely with product managers, security experts, and engineering teams across Microsoft to ensure our solutions meet the highest standards of security, reliability, and usability. This is a unique opportunity to work on highly visible, security-critical projects that directly impact Microsoft's core businesses and customer trust. You will gain deep expertise in authentication protocols, secure API design, telemetry, and threat mitigation-while helping shape the future of identity and access management. Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional or preferred qualifications:
Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year. Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
