YOU As a Buyer MRO, a member of the Supply Chain team at Simpson StrongTie, you will support the manufacturing of fasteners for our global network by ensuring materials and products reach end users on time and at competitive costs. Your responsibilities will include sourcing and purchasing inventory of maintenance, repair, and operating supplies required to maintain production equipment and facility operations in the Gallatin plant. This includes ensuring that materials, tools, spare parts, and services are available to support manufacturing and maintenance activities. You will manage ordering and expediting deliveries from subcontractors, as well as coordinating internal production to meet demand. Collaboration with internal teams-such as Purchasing, Production Control, Manufacturing, Shipping, and Receiving-will be essential to ensure timely and accurate material movement throughout the production process. Additionally, you will work with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive performance improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost using lean manufacturing processes. Maintaining effective supplier relationships and controlling costs will be key components of this role. This position works a Monday through Friday schedule 8am - 5pm. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING(% of Time) Source and purchase MRO materials including spare parts, tools, safety supplies, lubricants, and facility maintenance items. Create and manage purchase orders in ERP systems such as SAP or other purchasing systems. Ensure timely delivery of materials to prevent production downtime. Maintain accurate pricing, supplier data, and purchasing records. (40%) Communicate with suppliers regarding adjustments to demand, including delaying shipments or adjusting quantities as needed to maintain proper inventory levels. Support company and plant inventory goals while ensuring back-ordered materials are identified and prioritized through past due reports. (30%) Perform various other tasks in support of the Maintenance and Operations teams. Support the MRO Inventory Coordinator in monitoring stock levels of critical spare parts and consumables. Work with maintenance and operations teams to support forecasting and replenishment. Assist in reconciling receiving issues with materials. Identify, implement, and track cost savings and cost avoidance opportunities with materials or services assigned to you as a Purchasing Coordinator. Other tasks as assigned in relation to the responsibilities above. (20%) Provide administrative and transactional support to the purchasing and supply chain team. Assist buyers with purchase order entry, confirmations, and updates. Coordinate with suppliers to confirm order status, delivery dates, and shipment details. Help resolve purchase order discrepancies including pricing, quantity, or invoice issues. Support internal departments with purchasing requests and system guidance.
