Director of Artificial Intelligence & Automation in Richmond, Virginia. The Director of AI is responsible for building artificial intelligence in-house. In this role, the Director of Artificial Intelligence serves as the primary technical point of contact for AI initiatives with Caterpillar, Inc, promote the adoption of AI/RPA tools, and develop internal applications using AI tools
Seeking candidates with an MBA or equivalent business experience combined with a deep technical/developer background; Hands-on proficiency in Python, SQL, and modern AI/ML frameworks (OpenAI API, Microsoft Copilot Studio, Claude Code, LangChain, etc.); Proven track record of building data-driven tools that solved tangible business problems; Superior communication skills: able to explain the "Why" of AI to an executive and the "How" to a developer. Requirements for the Director of AI position includes:
Physical requirements must be met for the Director of AI job, including regularly being required to sit and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
