Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Facility Research Technician to work on our Hot Fuel Examination Facility (HFEF) team. This position would work normally assigned 4x10 schedule at MFC with every Friday off, with the potential for alternate shifts and overtime pending future program and mission needs. The Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC) at INL empowers the next generation of nuclear energy advances through hosting a unique combination of personnel, facilities, and infrastructure. MFC offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels and material from fuels design, development, and fabrication through to post-irradiation analysis. The Fuels Post-Irradiation Examination Division is seeking nuclear research facility technicians to work in the Hot Fuel Examination Facility (HFEF) Idaho National Laboratory's flagship facility for conducting post-irradiation examinations of nuclear fuels and materials. HFEF, located at the Materials and Fuels Complex, is a national research asset with the largest inert atmosphere hot cell dedicated to nuclear materials research in the United States. Nuclear Research Facility Technicians perform a variety of work activities including tracking, packaging, transferring, receiving, and storing fissionable materials, as well as handling, and treating radioactive and hazardous material. Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this classification, the employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, bend, and may work in confined spaces. The job requires hand/finger dexterity to keyboard or type, handle materials, manipulate tools, and reach with hands and arms. The job requires operation of job-related equipment and operating a vehicle. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds with assistance. Sufficient visual acuity and hearing capacity to perform the essential functions and interact with the public is required.
