Position Summary
The Division of Pediatric Pulmonology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the North Carolina Children's Hospital seeks to fill a full-time Open Rank appointment to advance our global research efforts in determining intrinsic and environmental factors that impact the health of the developing lungs in children worldwide, applying their investigative skills, tools, and technologies to improve diagnostics and treatment of pediatric respiratory diseases, especially in children from low-and-middle income nations. Research links and collaborations with the Marsico Lung Institute, Gillings School of Global Public Health, and Institute for Global Health and Infectious Disease, as well as collaborations with investigators outside of University of North Carolina will be strongly encouraged and supported.

The ideal candidate to join this busy and productive academic program will have experience in international lung health initiatives. It is expected that he or she will have internal or external funding by the employment start date. In addition, active and effective mentoring of pediatric pulmonology and other clinical or research fellows is expected. The position will be based in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pulmonology, potentially with secondary appointments in collaborating departments.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
MD or MD/PhD trained and American Board of Pediatrics-eligible or certified in Pediatric Pulmonology.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Candidate must have direct experience in pediatric pulmonary research and a publication track record in international pulmonary health. Position requires excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills. Applicants must have proven ability to analyze and integrate information from diverse disciplines, as well as a demonstrated ability to develop and advance new diagnostic and therapeutic concepts.
