Position Summary:
The
recently established PLASTICS research lab in the Department of Chemistry and
Environmental Science at New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is looking
for a proactive and independent Postdoctoral Research Associate with expertise
and interest in polymer/organic synthesis and gene delivery. The researcher
will work with the PI, Dr. Trevor Del Castillo on interdisciplinary projects at
the intersection of chemistry and medicine, involving organic synthesis,
polymer characterization, and cell transfection in vitro and in vivo. The successful candidate will be excited to
gain experience in setting up a lab in a newly renovated state of the art lab
facility and help train and guide early career graduate students.


Essential Functions:
-Organic
synthesis, polymer property and gene delivery research, serve as point of
contact lab manager to advise graduate students in the PIs absence.

Additional Functions:
-Assisting
the PI in writing grants and reports. Preparing high-quality peer-reviewed
articles under the direction of the PI. Supervising undergraduate and graduate
students.

Prerequisite Qualifications:
-Proactive and independent researcher with strong motivation to pursue
interdisciplinary research.
-Ph.D. in Chemistry.
-Track record of peer-reviewed publications and experience in chemical synthesis.
-At the university discretion, the education and experience prerequisites may be
exempted where the candidate can demonstrate to the satisfaction of the university, and equivalent combination of education and experience specifically
preparing the candidate for success in the position.

Salary Information:
In compliance with the NJ Pay Transparency Law, the negotiated starting annual salary for this position is $62,232.00 (USD). NJIT considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses or other items.
