Position Summary: The Test Engineer II is responsible for independently and collaboratively developing new, and modify existing, test plan and reports and processing systems/portfolios for the execution of complex test projects and validation efforts. Primary responsibilities of this individual include the oversight and operation of vibration/shock testing systems and ancillary supporting equipment. Additionally, this individual supports the Research & Development department in developing test procedures and best practices. The Test Engineer II is a mid-level position that draws on prior test engineering experience. This individual works actively with other Research & Development teams to conduct exploratory and qualification testing, as well as participate in and lead active HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screening) and HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Testing) Production-Level Vibratory testing for SIG SAUER's product portfolio. This is inclusive of shock, sine, and random vibration using an electrodynamic shaker system, as well as rough handling testing procedures with transportation simulators. The Test Engineer II collaborates cross-functionally with other engineering concentrations within Test Engineering as needed.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:
* Safely and effectively operate test equipment according to manuals, work instructions, or industry standards.
* Generate applicable documentation for the effective and proper use of test systems and equipment utilized by Research & Development, to include work instructions and standard operating procedures.
* Assist in estimating costs of new test projects for capital approval submission and planning.
* Follow documented and verbal test plans, interpret test standards, document raw test data, and create written test reports to SIG SAUER Inc.'s standards.
* Independently develop new and edit existing test plans and reports based on statistical and quality assurance principles to validate design or data quality.
* Analyze and present test data using statistics to ensure repeatability, reproducibility, and accuracy metrics for test systems used in product design validation testing procedures.
* Daily activities will include communication with Design Engineers regarding shaker fixture best practices and implementation, interpretation of test specifications and references to common engineering standards, as well as interpretation of shaker test results in real-time.
* Research technology to fill gaps in Research & Development departmental test capacity and capabilities.
* Contribute to the design, creating procedures for, and building of technical data packages for testing SIG SAUER product portfolio items.
* Assist in designs, creating drawings for, and build of fixtures and automated equipment for testing firearms, ammunition, or firearm subassemblies.
* Create item numbers, change orders, and documents in Agile PLM.
* Assist in tracking and maintaining revision control of data driven projects in GIT or equivalent.
* Work directly with internal customers to assist in the facilitation of product testing and development of new data/control systems for internal and external testing use cases.
* Assist in converting customer requirements into functional requirements and parameters used in validation efforts department wide.
* Maintain compliance with ISO regulations of document control for legal data packages pertaining to validation testing conducted within Test & Evaluation.
* Assist in the development of other Engineers and Technicians by participating in thorough technical data reviews and test analytic presentations.
* Must be able to travel infrequently.
* Engage in and actively volunteer for Continuous Improvement projects/tasks.
* Communicate effectively to supervision regarding problems and corrective action.
* Participate in and sustain 5S Standards.
* Must follow all required Safety and ISO procedures.

Education/Experience & Skills:
* Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering required and a minimum of 3-6 years of experience in a related Engineering role required. 2 years of previous experience with electrodynamic shaker systems and analysis software required.
* Must be proficient using piezoelectric and charge-mode sensors with associated data-acquisition systems.
* A strong understanding of structural dynamics, signal processing, and material fatigue are preferred.
* Must have knowledge of vibration test system setup, functionality, and results
analysis.
* Must be able to interpret test specifications and references to common engineering standards.
* Must be able to make decisions based on their active interpretations of shaker response in real-time.
* Exposure to MIL-STD 810G/H and NATO AC225 is preferred.
* Experience creating data collection/analysis programs for raw test data preferred. LabVIEW, MATLAB, VBA, Python coding languages preferred. Must have experience using a PLM system (Agile preferred).
* Must be proficient using SOLIDWORKS to create complete technical data packages, to include parametric solid models, associated drawings, and fully mated assemblies.
* Must be able to generate clear, fully dimensioned, ASME Y14.5 compliant drawings of complex parts using logical datum structures and functional dimensioning schemes.
* Familiarity with GD&T symbology and ability to understand how they control allowable part geometry required.
* Ability to complete multi-part tolerance stack analyses preferred.
* Ability to perform FEA stress analysis in NX Simcenter and/or SOLIDWORKS Simulation preferred.
* Experience analyzing statistical data is required. Minitab knowledge and experience preferred.
* Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and must be able to create and edit documents with little to no support. Proficiency using Microsoft Project/Monday.com preferred.
* Knowledge of database integration within data collection systems preferred.
* Must be able to clearly, concisely, and accurately convey ideas and information to others, both verbally and in written form.
* Must possess effective technical communication skills and the ability to accurately articulate engineering results to multiple customer disciplines.
* High attention to detail is imperative in this role.
* Experience identifying and troubleshooting common firearm malfunctions is preferred.
* Experience in using and maintaining firearms is required.
* Pistol, rifle, and shotgun training certifications from a recognized firearms academy preferred.
* Maintain range certification while always handling and shooting firearms in accordance with SIG SAUER Inc. policy.
* Maintain qualifications to act as a Range Safety Officer to include passing First Aid and Trauma Management classes.
* Ability to work independently and regularly as part of a team.
* Ability to complete tasks as assigned in a timely manner and require little supervision to identify additional tasking.

Working Conditions:
* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer using a keyboard and mouse performing repetitive tasks.
* Ability to open file cabinets, reach with hands and arms, bend, and twist, lift and move files.
* Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
* Must wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required.
* Must comply with all work exposure EH&S training requirements and adhere to SIG SAUER Inc. Security Mandates.
