Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The Manager, Pharmacy Education is responsible for the operational leadership, administrative oversight, and systemwide coordination of all pharmacy education programs and functions across UCI Health, including inpatient and outpatient pharmacies, ambulatory clinics, and infusion centers. The incumbent is accountable for the management and oversight of pharmacy residency, pharmacist intern, and technician intern programs, as well as departmental pharmacy education initiatives, including new coworker orientation, annual competency programs, and student and resident programs. This role maintains responsibility for the development and implementation of sustainable policies and procedures supporting all pharmacy education programs and ensures oversight of pharmacy residency programs to maintain ASHP accreditation and compliance with all applicable requirements. The Manager provides direct oversight and is responsible for the selection, orientation, training, performance management, and professional development of all assigned pharmacy education coworkers. This position facilitates communication and collaboration with stakeholders, and actively precepts pharmacy residents, students, technicians, and interns as a Direct Care Provider as defined in Pharmacy Policy. The exercises independent judgment in managing day-to-day operations, coworker scheduling, and the execution of established pharmacy education program objectives, while actively participating in departmental strategic planning and identifying opportunities to innovate and expand education through the use of technology and equipment.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

  • Pharm.D. from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Must demonstrate customer service and teamwork skills appropriate to the job
  • Minimum five years of clinical experience, preferably in the acute care setting, as a licensed pharmacist, or three years' experience & a Residency
  • Knowledge and abilities necessary for the successful performance of the duties assigned to the position
  • Excellent planning, organization and time management skills
  • Demonstrate clear, concise verbal and written communication skills
  • Current BLS or ACLS certification
  • CA Board of Pharmacy Registered Pharmacist licensure in good standing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior successful leadership experience, preferably at a large, multi-hospital organization or academic medical center, in a pharmacy education or residency program director role
  • Post-graduate training or completion of an accredited pharmacy residency
  • Board certification in pharmacy
  • Knowledge and use of EPIC electronic health record
  • Experience in utilization of learning management systems software
  • Licenses and Certifications: RPh
