Your Role on the Team

Position Summary:

The Manager, Pharmacy Informatics & Automation is responsible for the operational leadership, administrative oversight, and systemwide coordination of all pharmacy technology and automation functions across UCI Health. The incumbent is accountable for the strategic design, implementation, optimization, and governance of pharmacy informatics initiatives, including automated dispensing platforms such as Omnicell and BD Pyxis, pharmacy information systems, and related clinical applications that support safe and effective medication-use processes across inpatient and ambulatory settings. This role maintains responsibility for the planning, management, and execution of clinical application operations, system enhancements, interface integrity, cybersecurity oversight, regulatory readiness, and business continuity planning across the pharmacy enterprise. The Manager provides direct oversight across all assigned functional areas, providing mentorship, project oversight, vendor management, and performance monitoring in alignment with organizational goals. This position collaborates closely with pharmacy operations, nursing, UCI Health ITS, compliance, supply chain, and executive leadership to standardize workflows, improve interoperability, and deliver actionable data insights that enhance patient care, operational efficiency, and enterprise performance. The Manager exercises independent judgment in managing day-to-day informatics operations, coworker scheduling, and the execution of established pharmacy informatics and automation program objectives.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required Qualifications:

  • Pharm.D. from an accredited school of pharmacy
  • Four years of experience as a licensed pharmacist in a hospital pharmacy or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Registered Pharmacist in CA in good standing
  • Minimum 3 years pharmacy technology systems experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior successful leadership experience, preferably at a large, multi-hospital organization, in a pharmacy informatics role
  • Pharmacy Informatics Residency
  • Knowledge and use of EPIC electronic health record
  • Knowledge and experience with Pyxis and/or Omnicell
  • Experience in utilization of inventory management software
  • An advanced administrative degree (M.S., M.H.A., M.P.H., M.B.A.)
  • Licenses and Certifications:
  • California Board of Pharmacy - Pharmacist License
