| Position Summary |
The Division of Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling in the Department of Health Sciences invites applications for a fixed-term track faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor.
The main responsibilities of this faculty position include in-classroom teaching didactic and seminar courses in the Clinical Rehabilitation Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling master's programs at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Both programs are two-year, in-person master's programs.
We are especially interested in candidates with graduate degrees in Counselor Education, Counselor Education & Supervision, Rehabilitation Counseling, Rehabilitation Counselor Education, or a closely related field. Our needs for teaching expertise are in the following areas: Principles of Group Counseling in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, Marriage, Couple & Family Counseling, A Multicultural Perspective of Developmental Counseling through the Lifespan, Research and Program Evaluation in Counseling, Theories of Counseling, and small group supervision of Practicum and Internship in Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling, and Co-Occurring Disorders in Clinical Rehabilitation & Mental Health Counseling.
This position also includes a clinical appointment with the
UNC Rehabilitation Center.
The position is currently designated as a 100% full-time appointment; however, this allocation is contingent upon continued funding for the clinical portion of the appointment, in which case it may need to be adjusted to 80%.
The curriculum within the Division of Clinical Rehabilitation and Mental Health Counseling emphasizes chronic medical conditions, as well as developmental and psychiatric disabilities. The Assistant/Associate Professor position requires expertise in rehabilitation and/or mental health counseling practice across a broad range of mental health conditions, disabilities and diverse populations. |
| Minimum Education and Experience Requirements |
* Earned doctorate (e.g., Ph.D., Ed.D.) in Counselor Education (Mental Health Counseling or Rehabilitation Counseling) preferably from a
CACREP accredited program, or a doctoral degree in a related field from an accredited institution and full-time faculty experience in a counselor education program before July 1, 2013.
ABD will be considered with completion required by start date, if applicable.
* Eligibility for, or current professional licensure as,
LCMHC,
LPC,
LCAS, or
CRC.
* Demonstrated ability to teach graduate-level courses in clinical mental health counseling and/or rehabilitation counseling.
* Experience supervising and mentoring graduate students in counseling or rehabilitation counseling settings.
* Experience providing counseling services to people with developmental and/or psychiatric disabilities, preferably in a medical, inpatient, or community-based practice setting.
* Evidence of scholarly productivity or a clear research agenda with potential for publication and external funding. |
