Position Summary:

The Assistant Center Director is responsible for supporting the Director in the management of Goodhue Center, I.S. 61, and all other Center programs. This includes planning, organizing, directing, coordinating and supervising staff while implementing the Agency Mission, goals & objectives and the Agency's policies & procedures.

Essential Duties:



  • Understand and promote the organization's Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures.
  • Assist the Director in the management of all of the center's programs, services & operation of the facility as well as all programming occurring offsite at other locations.
  • Direct Oversight & Management of the After-School program and program staff.
  • Oversight and Management of Fiscal and Facility operations.
  • Manage and maintain annual budgets for Goodhue Center Programs.
  • Maintaining a safe, clean and quality facility at all times.
  • Report on any and all building damage and maintenance needs; effectively addressing all building, maintenance needs as well as all Security & Fire Alarm issues.
  • Supervise the Administrative/Support staff and Maintenance staff, enforcing all CAS personnel policies and procedures.
  • Support all Parent programming.
  • Develop, plan & Implement quality & innovative youth programming that employs youth development principles & practices-as well as a holistic approach to expose youth to new experiences.
  • Ensure Center programs and services operate in compliance with agency policies, procedures, contractual requirements with all funding sources and government regulations (City, State & Federal).
  • Obtain all related licenses required to operate programs within compliance.
  • Interview, Hire, Supervise & Evaluate program staff and volunteers.
  • Conduct & Coordinate Staff, Volunteer and Parent Orientations, Meetings & Trainings.
  • Positive role model for youth, parents and staff.
  • Complete and submit reports and all other required documentation needed.
  • Interact, engage and maintain open communication with parents/community partners to enable a better understanding of youth, families and community needs and how to manage and improve in the service delivery of programming to meet such needs.
  • Attend & Participate in Community meetings, forums & committees representing the Center & Agency.
  • Work collaboratively with other agency youth programs and community partners.
  • Ability to workdays, evenings, weekends and holidays.
  • Perform all other duties as required, assigned and necessary to ensure the operation of all Center programs, services and the facility.


    Minimum Qualifications:



    • Bachelor's Degree required, master's degree in social work, education, counseling, psychology or related field preferred.
    • Ten (10) years of experience working with children and/or families in community-based programs.
    • Five (5) years of supervisory skills.

    • Knowledge of youth development principles and youth programs.
    • Experience in the Creation, Development & Implementation of Youth programs.
    • Knowledge of program budgets and business operations.
    • Flexible & able to adapt.
    • Ability to interface with diverse youth and staff populations.
    • Ability to work collaboratively with Center & Agency Interdisciplinary Teams.
    • Excellent Communication Skills (written & Verbal).
    • Good Command of English Language, Bilingual/English Spanish a plus.
    • Working knowledge of the computer system & database operations.
