Summary
In alignment with Gift of Life Michigan's core purpose and core values, the Senior Director of Donation Optimization serves as a key member of the organization's leadership team and contributes to organizational and departmental strategic planning and execution. The incumbent is responsible for overseeing all donation authorization, donation logistics and hospital development departments. The incumbent will serve as the oversight leader of the assigned department directors and managers, prioritizing objectives, and implementing strategies to achieve corporate goals and KPIs. Under the guidance of the Vice President, Clinical Operations, this position will be charged to execute on the strategic vision for the assigned departments and champion growth and innovation, while heightening employee engagement within the clinical division. The Senior Director works strategically to identify opportunities for operational efficiencies, ensures compliance with governing regulations, and fosters collaborative relationships with hospitals and other key partners to advance donation and achieve organizational goals.
Duties & Responsibilities

- As a member of the leadership team, contribute to the development and execution of the organization's strategic plan.
- Develop and execute a strategic vision and plan for assigned area(s) of oversight, in line with the clinical division and organization's mission and vision. Be accountable for the achievement of the plan and its supporting goals.
- Oversee the daily operations of assigned department(s), prioritize objectives, and implement strategies to achieve department goals and KPIs.
- Provide leadership to division directors and managers, including development of and accountability for performance.
- Oversee and provide strategic leadership in all clinical activities within donation authorization, donor logistics, and hospital development.
- Oversee the development of and adherence to a working budget for assigned department(s), including the identification of capital and staffing requirements.
- Monitor clinical Key Performance Indicators and work with relevant teams to identify areas for improvement.
- Respond to inquiries from external stakeholders such as donor hospitals, transplant centers, etc.
- Conduct town halls and other interactive forums with division and department staff to heighten engagement, provide direction, and instruct as necessary on relevant topics.
- Drive collaboration across the organization to identify needs and develop scalable solutions.
- Champion inter- and cross-department changes focused on innovation, gaining efficiencies, and increasing productivity in support of the organization's mission.
- Lead and participate in assigned internal committees, work groups, and project teams as appropriate.
- Represent Gift of Life through attendance at conferences and participation in local and national organizations and committees.
- Participate in peer-to-peer collaboration with other organ procurement organizations, tissue banks, regulatory agencies, and partners for best practice sharing and learning.
- Oversee and contribute to the development of policies and procedures for assigned division to ensure compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities
- Direct and oversee the day-to-day work of assigned direct reports, set and communicate clear expectations, and provide coaching/guidance as necessary.
- Provide ongoing formal and informal performance feedback, conducting performance reviews and/or corrective action discussions as necessary.
- Support staff in setting performance goals and in furthering their professional development.
- Support the bi-directional communication of organizational and department messaging between leadership and staff.
- Promote a healthy and safe work environment.
- Manage other tasks required of supervisors such as time and attendance, staff change requests, and reporting.
Education and/or Experience
Required
- Bachelor's degree in a related field plus seven years progressively responsible related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- At least five years' experience in management or leadership role
- Prior experience in a healthcare organization, transplant center, or organ/tissue procurement organization.
- Experience leading teams to the successful achievement of division or department goals.
- Experience establishing department and/or team strategies and goals.
- Experience providing oversight, both direct and indirect, to multidisciplinary teams of varying sizes
Preferred
- Master's degree in business administration, public administration, healthcare, or a related field.
- Experience leading and successfully completing large scope projects.
