Job Summary
The Vehicle Distribution Logistics Specialist is responsible for supporting all aspects of planning, delivering, and executing high performance transportation management solutions. This includes but is not limited to the movement of trucks and vehicles (both new and used) between ocean terminals, warehouses, and railroad ramps by organizing, assessing, and evaluating the capacity, schedules, and equipment pickup and delivery activities for various transportation hubs for various business units.

Primary Objectives
  • Prioritize, coordinate, and schedule deliveries for multiple business units for locations on West Coast to Hawaii routes as well as Southern California dealer deliveries.
  • Analyze, track, and monitor Key Performance Metrics which may include drayage costs, per diem, transit time, etc.
  • Deliver a high level of customer service and quality to enable the movement of trucks and autos on a timely and efficient basis.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Work with management to develop, audit, and reconcile customer rate structures.
  • Schedule/dispatch trucking for both Terminal to Terminal and Terminal to Dealer work. Monitor and coordinate all westbound Hawaii cargo.
  • Confirm and update accurate E.T.A. information, voyage cut-off requirements, and provide advance notification of early arrivals to advance vehicles from future voyages.
  • Identify problems and work with customers and vendors to develop the best solution possible and available. Create and recommend best practices related to departmental process flows.
  • Maintain daily performance records, control logs, and dispatch-related file systems. Perform required analysis and reporting as required. Update schedules, logs, and tasks daily.
  • Understand and adhere to all vendor interchange policy agreements to avoid storage and per diem charges.
  • Work with other Liner supporting teams to maintain customer relationships.
  • Prepare reports as needed or directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS

Education
  • High school diploma or equivalent (HSED) required
  • Some college-level coursework preferred
Licenses and Certifications
  • Valid state-issued driver license and acceptable driving record required
  • Transportation Worker Identification Credential required
Work Experience
  • 1-3 years of related experience in dispatching and line haul carriage / trucking operations required
  • Experience working with third party vendors, contractors, and suppliers. required
  • Vehicle and capacity planning experience within the transportation and logistics industries, including experience scheduling and coordinating deliveries. preferred
  • Prior experience working in a union environment a plus preferred

Working Environment
This role requires work that may involve the following environmental conditions:
  • Corporate office environment
  • Vessel and terminal environment - includes moving, shifting surfaces, and active production areas including moving vehicles, equipment, and machinery.
  • Outdoor/open environments which may involve high/low temperatures, humidity and inclement weather conditions.
Travel
Occasional Must be able to travel independently between locations.

Zone 2: $67,000 - $72,000
