Position Title: Consumer Loan Specialist

Position Summary:

The Consumer Loan Specialist supports the lending process by accurately and efficiently processing consumer loan applications from start to finish. This role is responsible for gathering and validating all information required to process consumer loan requests, in accordance with guidelines, for a wide range of consumer loan types to include unsecured and secured loans and credit cards. Provides support to the members, to move the loan request to closing.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collects, substantiates, and validates accuracy of member information.

  • Conducts a comprehensive final review of the loan in accordance with underwriting approval, credit guidelines, and funding requirements while validating data in all required systems.

  • Reviews, analyzes and matches all loan information and documentation to the loan application and applicable system to ensure data integrity and certainty in preparation for closing/funding.

  • Performs a review and examination of all required lien information to confirm accuracy, validity, and compliance for lien placement at time of closing.

  • Obtains necessary lending approval when final terms are outside of original underwriting approval.

  • Complies with established service level agreement, explains document requests, decisions, and provides thorough information to members to finalize the loan transaction.

  • Verifies documentation to include but not limited to credit report, proof of income, and statements.

  • Effectively communicates and works in a team environment with others.

  • Supports all loan origination and servicing channels for all consumer loan types.

  • Discusses document requests, credit application decisions, with internal and external partners, as needed.

  • Accepts incoming calls, provides information, answers questions related to loan underwriting, processing, and funding. Conducts outgoing calls for processing follow-ups, retrieving required documentation, and providing relevant updates to the member.

  • Adheres to all procedures designed to document the lending process and provide proper checks and balances.

  • Recognize and resolve challenges early in the process to ensure accuracy and to provide a seamless member experience.

  • Balance competing priorities and deadlines in a dynamic, goal driven environment.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent

Experience:

  • One to Two years of experience in loan processing, banking, or financial services (preferred).

  • Ability to work independently and responsibly adheres to credit union guidelines and procedures

  • Ability to after normal business hours or weekends if the need arises.

  • Our company offers a dynamic hybrid work arrangement, which requires three days on-site, in the Sugar Land, TX office.
