Overview

Apogee has exciting opportunities for Systems Engineers (Subject Matter Expert) supporting the M-Code Aviation Receivers Joint Program Office (MAR JPO) at Wright-Patterson AFB, OH. These positions support GPS User Equipment modernization programs with focus on platform integration, systems engineering, and open architecture implementation.

These are full-time positions located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (AFB).



Responsibilities

    Translate user requirements into system requirements for GPS User Equipment and platform integration
  • Perform technical/mission analyses of operational requirements for aircraft applications
  • Conduct technological/trade-off study assessments of proposed designs and architectures
  • Draft project documentation including SOOs, SOWs, SEPs, program plans, and presentations
  • Review and analyze technical proposals for cost, design feasibility, and system compatibility
  • Support platform integration activities with Wright-Patterson-based aircraft programs
  • Review and verify Interface Control Documents (ICDs) between subsystems and platforms
  • Support System Integration Lab (SIL) testing to ensure compliance with ICDs
  • Provide expertise in open architecture frameworks (SOSA, FACE, OMS, VITA)
  • Recommend implementation of Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA)
  • Support GPS security certification and NAVWAR compliance
  • Provide systems engineering support for Assured PNT development
  • Evaluate contractor test plans and participate in systems testing
  • Support design reviews from Preliminary Design Review through Production Readiness Review
  • Apply Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) best practices
  • Develop and maintain requirements traceability matrices
  • Conduct life-cycle cost analyses and supportability assessments
  • Support airworthiness certification activities
  • Evaluate alternative navigation capabilities and integration approaches


Qualifications

Minimum Experience:

Citizenship: Must be a US citizen
Clearance: Must possess and maintain a Top Secret/SCI clearance

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical field
Years of Experience: 15 years of systems engineering experience in DoD, with at least 5 years in DoD
Additional Experience:

  • In-depth knowledge of GPS/GNSS systems, avionics integration, and PNT
  • Knowledge of systems engineering processes per IEEE 15288/EIA 632
  • Experience with open architecture standards (SOSA, FACE, OMS)
  • Familiarity with MIL-STD-1553 and avionics interfaces
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills

Preferred Experience:

Education: Master's or Doctorate Degree in Engineering or related technical field
Years of Experience:
12 years of systems engineering experience in DoD, with at least 5 years in DoD

Additional Experience: Experience with airborne platform integration (3 or more years of platforms preferred)

Location: Wright-Patterson Air Force Base (AFB), OH On-site: This is a full-time on-site Travel: Travel up to 15% may be required - per the customer's discretion
