About the Role:

The Maintenance Mechanic Lead A plays a critical role in ensuring the optimal operation and reliability of all mechanical systems within the facility. This position leads a team of maintenance mechanics, coordinating daily activities to perform preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on machinery and equipment. The role requires diagnosing mechanical issues, implementing effective solutions, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. The Maintenance Mechanic Lead A also collaborates with other departments to minimize downtime and improve operational efficiency. Ultimately, this position is responsible for maintaining a safe, efficient, and productive work environment through expert mechanical leadership and hands-on maintenance expertise.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial mechanical maintenance.
  • Proven experience in a lead or supervisory role within a maintenance team.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and technical manuals.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certification or associate degree in mechanical technology or related field.
  • Experience with Computer based diagnostic software
  • Familiarity with Heavy equipment and crawler lattice boom cranes
  • Certification in safety training such as OSHA or equivalent.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing or industrial environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of maintenance mechanics, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure high-quality work performance.
  • Perform and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical equipment, including conveyors, pumps, motors, heavy equipment, fleet vehicles and hydraulic systems.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures and implement timely repairs to minimize equipment downtime and maintain production schedules.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, including work orders, inspections, and parts inventory management.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, promoting a culture of safety within the maintenance team.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to identify opportunities for equipment upgrades and process improvements.
  • Train and mentor junior mechanics to develop their technical skills and knowledge.
  • Communicate with vendors and contractors ordering parts and troubleshooting solutions to fix mechanical systems.

The required skills enable the Maintenance Mechanic Lead A to effectively troubleshoot and repair complex mechanical systems, ensuring minimal disruption to production. Leadership and communication skills are essential for managing the maintenance team, delegating tasks, and fostering a collaborative work environment. Proficiency in reading technical documents allows for accurate diagnosis and repair of equipment issues. Familiarity with computerized maintenance management systems helps in tracking maintenance activities and managing resources efficiently. Preferred skills such as knowledge of lean manufacturing and safety certifications enhance the ability to implement process improvements and maintain a safe workplace.
